@scbucspod The decision on Mayfield shouldn't be that hard, in my opinion.
It feels like that "prove-it" cycle has run its course. But Licht has a history of believing too hard and trusting QBs in Tampa for too long.
@BucsCorner813 Braswell is somewhat a victim of circumstance. Just like his time at Alabama, he found himself on the back burner in favour of Reddick in his 2nd year. The investment in Reddick(though not huge) was a priority until Reddick went down with injuries.
@BucsCorner813 Most of the players met their limits, and the team needed more. But that's the flaw in the picks.
Tryon-Shoyinka was pressuring QBs into sacks, but the team wanted a top sack guy.
Hall's proverbial ceiling was Ghoston-like. The team needed more of a skilled pass-rusher.
@indy_sooner@ECloskyWTSP The defense held opponents to 23 points or less 10 times.
The offense scored 23 points 5 times all season long.
This shit ain't working out for you.
@indy_sooner@ECloskyWTSP It's crazy how 2025 was vastly different from the 2024 season.
Far too many of you wanna project small sample sizes to long-term and even permanent outlooks and opinions.
@aj_c21@JTHTHEV Nah.. You stumbled upon a few of the non-Kool Aid-drinking idiots who actually paid attention to what really happened.
Don't worry. There's still a big dumb ass audience for you.
6 INTs in 4 consecutive 1-score losses, with 3 coming in the 4th quarter. Games that would've gotten the Evans and the team into the Playoffs. But yea....it was the coach that made him want to leave.
I've seen a lot of fans on here say it's "Todd Bowles. He's the problem." But let's consider the resources devoted to the defense post-Super Bowl. They've missed on some defensive draft picks + haven't invested heavily in free agents, and some guys weren't getting developed. And Evans is going on his fifth offensive coordinator in five years. I think it has more to do with the lack of consistency with who has called plays on offense. I do know he was very disheartened about missing the playoffs too though.
Uggghhh....it just had to be San Francisco, too.
I flew into San Francisco from Singapore a couple of nights ago, and I hated damn near every minute I was there. Now, it all makes sense.
You've got clown-ass, rage-bait "insiders" riling up the wannabe influencer "fans" by implying Evans' decision to leave was predicated on a single play during a loss.
Let's see...I remember 6 INTs in 4 consecutive 1-score losses, with 3 in the 4th quarter.
Maybe those did it.
While the #BUCS are willing to play chicken with Mike Evans for fear he may fall off soon after he's proven to be a franchise player for 12 years, they're looking at paying Mayfield to keep hoping he magically becomes a "franchise QB" after 3 seasons of uneven play.
Jason Licht gets credited for selecting Mike Evans as his first pick as GM in Tampa.
But it was Lovie Smith who had his thumb on the pulse of Texas talent from high school through the college ranks. Lovie Smith had final control of the roster, and Licht was only GM in name.
You'll see people say Evans' leaving Tampa isn't about the money. And they're partially correct.
It's largely about the respect behind the money.
Evans should've NEVER been in a position to question whether or not the BUCS appreciated him enough to pay him to remain in Tampa.
Having your franchise player test free agency(TWICE) isn't a reward to the player, it's an unnecessary and foolish risk.
Be clear: The @Buccaneers don't have the type of QB that can just make good on good WRs. There NEEDS to be an X-Factor. Mike Evans is that X-Factor.
@Bucsfan02 I can't provide any emails or voicemails to prove I was in on any conversations.
But look at the situation: he was allowed to imagine himself being anywhere but Tampa(twice). It could've/should've been different, but money, undoubtedly, is the biggest issue.
"Mike Evans is leaving Tampa because he has no faith in Bowles"---Some Clowns
If Evans leaves Tampa, it'll be because the GM f*cked up by not giving him Franchise Player treatment he deserves in the form of a long-term contract. #BUCS#PayAttention
@Bucsfan02 Evans said on multiple occasions that he'd like to be a BUC for life. This was the 2nd time the team let him believe he could be elsewhere, and now he is.
@Bucsfan02 Technically, it's "nonsensical" for an agent or anyone other than the player himself to make a statement moments after agreeing to a deal. There's zero benefit to making a statement whatsoever.
