A fascinating piece speaking to our wonderful clients at @LimitedRunGames. LRG are champions of physical and will ALWAYS support the community. Thanks to the superb @GamesBeat for the opportunity.

[GamesBeat @GamesBeat]

EXCLUSIVE: Physical game ownership is becoming a more specialized market as the industry shifts toward digital distribution.

With @Sony reportedly planning to move @PlayStation away from physical media by 2028, @LimitedRunGames is positioning itself to serve players who still want games they can own, collect and display.

The company’s made-to-order model helps publishers release physical editions without taking on the same inventory risks as traditional retail, while shrinking game sections in stores and rising manufacturing costs are putting pressure on the wider market.

@rachelkaser spoke to Brendan Madigan, CPA, CFO of Limited Run Games, and Nic Ashford, COO, about the future of physical games and the company’s role in preserving them.

“Limited Run exists because we wanted to put out product to fans that bigger publishers weren’t willing to take a financial risk on. The old model involved taking something to retail and hoping it sells; and if it doesn’t, you back it all out. In our model, we manufacture what we sell, so there’s no financial risk,” Madigan said.
