Having spent a couple of hours playing Marathon yesterday: yeah, not for me. Admittedly I did get my butt kicked throughout, but I was still searching for the fun a couple hours in and then I was like, nah, gonna play something else.
Anyway, Steam Next Fest is about to start, Demon Tides & Insider Trading released last week, the Marathon open beta is next weekend, there's a tonne of games announced for March and I still wanna play through the Banjo Kazooie recompilation. Better get streaming, huh.
Highguard Steam CCV discourse: the first Friday peak being higher than the first Saturday peak being higher than the first Sunday peak is the Pattern of Death for an aspiring live service game. Back to the drawing board, folks.
Highguard cold take: I might give it a spin when it launches tonight, but I'm not expecting much. Streaming it would probably be pointless since I'm expecting a big sponsorship campaign resulting in everyone and their mothers streaming it in the hopes of the clout trickling down.
Y'know, it was good to do a test stream yesterday and realise that I needed to re-log into Twitch on my OBS instead of panicking why my stream wasn''t working there.
So I bought Super Wooden Rally Edge yesterday because I loved the demo when I played it last year and all the reviews are glowing. I then read the Edge review for Big Hops and nabbed that too.
I wanted to print out something, but my printer isn't connecting to my Wi-Fi, so I go out and buy one of thouse dumb square printer plugs to USB cables, only for the printer to show up as a scanner.
So I tried turning off the password in the guest network and the printer connected to that, but my computer didn't connect to the printer. In desperation, I tried connecting my printer to my work laptop via USB via USB-C dongle and that worked.
Setting aside that the only marketing Highguard has received in a month is a tweet from The Game Awards account: why would anyone launch a live service game on a Monday? I can see why you would launch on a Thursday and definitely Friday but not Monday.
Huh, PEGI put up a rating for a new Life is Strange game. That's the second game they've leaked in a month (they leaked the Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake last month). Weird seeing them jump the gun repeatedly.
Happy new year, everyone. Good excuse as any for me to actually do some Content™, eh? My plan is to do an Archipelago randomizer stream at some point later today, so *points at link in bio*.
Not gonna lie, didn't expect to see "encoders overloaded" at the end of the last stream. Thankfully it was at the waffle at the end so no real harm done, but it's not a great sign. Hopefully that's something I can troubleshoot before tonight's stream.
