IMO 🎥 for ⚽️ Keepers 🧤are often easier than other positions as there is often less nuance & more straight forward reactions than for a CM for example.
Did they keep the ⚽️ out of danger & did they help us keep possession & start the attack?
It often takes 10x as many matches, probably at least 15-30 to get a sample of a GK dealing with everything a keeper faces regularly in a season.
⚽️ GK 🎥 needs, in no particular order:
🧤 Catching Low, Med, High
🧤Crosses
🧤1v1 Duals in the air & on the floor
🧤Dealing with Traffic
🧤Sweeper/Keeper (or not)
🧤Set Plays
🧤Shot stopping from all distances
🧤Various dives to show range
🧤Reaction Saves
🧤Tipping
🧤Controlling the 18 & the space in front of them through physical control, verbal control & organizational control
🧤Organization isn’t easy to show in highlights so if all the other items ✅, we can do that through watching full matches
🧤Distribution in all its forms over all distances with a variety of nuance (pace, height, spin, no spin, etc)
🧤 The Modern keeper is playing with their feet 👣 as if they were an additional CB
🧤Lastly, GK is the one position where there can be real value of good training film & 5v5 sessions
Good Full match film will be crucial & there is nothing like going & seeing a keeper in their native environment
What am I missing Twitter GK friends?
