There is only one reason you should save money:

Save to invest when what you have is too small to invest

Besides this, you should not save money, because inflation whittles its value. Spend on necessities and invest the rest. If you have emergencies, you can liquidate some or all of your investments. Your money should not sit in a bank earning interest lower than the inflation rate. Get it out there in an investment that yields a higher return than the inflation rate.
