Two different parents will have children, either at the same or different time, a boy and a girl. They will both nurture and raise them, send them to different schools until they become adults and graduates, and both of them will start looking for job to start a life. Then when it’s time to marry, the parents of the guy will be given a long list of items to bring to the parents of the lady.

It’s the guy who must make enough money to fund the wedding, no matter how small, secure a house, furnish it up to the taste of the lady and till the end of his life, he’s obligated to work, earn and provide for the lady till he’s no more. When/if he dies before her, whatever he works for is inherited by the lady.

That’s the typical life circle of every average African boy/man out there.
