Capture The Flag is back for the 2nd time on Epic's Picks as part of the few islands featured at #GDC2024
Always wanted to bring CTF into Fortnite, failed twice, and now with #UEFN I could finally make it just the way I wanted, founding the CTF Discover category thanks to its success.
Thank you to Epic Games for selecting me and trusting me!
And thank you to the CTF Community who keep coming back every day to enjoy the game!
Make sure to follow @FortniteCTF 🚩

Would like an explanation as well.
We were under the impression this change was canceled due to creators' concerns and was going to be implemented after a re-evaluation.
But this is exactly the same, nothing was changed to mitigate the unfair advantage top creators will have over everyone else once this goes live.
New games are shown directly to your followers in a dedicated row, so top creators get instant millions of impressions without needing to go through any other tabs.
No creator will ever have that luxury if the device button is removed. Unfair for current small developers and any future developers until those millions of players following top creators quit the game.

Here's a showcase of my weapon upgrades UI for my zombie roguelike, coming soon! ⌛️
I'm personally loving the art direction and sound design, I've been putting-in long days into making it look great. I'm determined to make this game feel unique and worth the players' time.

I’m having so much fun building my first Roguelike, can’t wait to publish it!
The UEFN experience feels good lately, all things considered. I’m enjoying building games despite long waits. It’s Discovery that crushes your soul when your game is done 🥴
@detail_mon79250 This game is genuinely the best I’ve ever made. I will also make sure to follow their best practices for Discovery.
I guess it will be a test to the new Discovery system, I’m hoping it gets some traction. I’m not doing Sponsored.
Thank you.
I think the new direction is good, it just doesn't feel like "it works" at the moment because Discovery changed abruptly overnight and what worked Friday no longer worked Saturday, so creators' livelihoods were disrupted in what felt like a bug first (because we weren't told in advance)
All we ask is there's more consideration on how the 99% of creators are affected with major changes. I'm sure the data at Epic shows the top creators are barely affected, it's the average creator who does this for a living that ends up quitting because they can no longer get players.
As someone who has created in Fortnite for 6 years and has seen the ups and downs, I think the plans around Discovery are good.
I commend Epic and their determination to keep improving the platform, not all shots are gonna be hits.
That said, I just wish they were more considerate about the human impact these constant changes have. Even though Epic really owes us nothing, UGC accounts for 50% of engagement in the platform. Creators literally helped build Fortnite Creative into what it is today, it shouldn’t be a requirement for things to escalate on socials for us to get an explanation on how things work or why they do certain things.
A lot of these changes come without notice, and without any kind of compensation if they disrupt creators’ ability to get players (e.g. constant changes around Epic Picks). Worse of all, none of these changes affect the top 1% who already eat up most of the playerbase, it’s the small-medium sized creators that keep getting squeezed more and more until they have nothing left.
I’m hopeful Epic keeps their word and becomes more transparent, a lot of these upcoming changes are actually great.
Discovery being 100% personalized is a GREAT change, no reason a Roguelike player should always be force-fed Steal the Brainrot, or viceversa.
Higher standards for thumbnails can be great if done right AND if the system isn’t all in the hands of AI.
Hopefully Epic’s Picks gets more attention too, I still don’t understand why they’re too shy to give it more exposure. They’re already innovative hand-picked games.
Overall, I think Fortnite’s future is bright, provided they listen to the community more when things are not working out. And if they don’t try to reinvent the wheel too often.
Thank you @FNCreate@thesquatingdog@HaroldAtEpic
@Giddybrommetje Yeah my CTF game died as well. It held a small community for almost 3 years.
I guess I'm a bit more optimistic now after knowing their plan, which is good imo. It may just take a while for it to feel like it's working again.
@Giddybrommetje The original old discovery worked even far better. The problem is Epic does not want to limit creators’ ability to publish games, which innevitably leads to spam issues and that means they have to resort to these new measures.

My first Roguelike will be a zombie game, heavily inspired on a few zombie franchises like Resident Evil.
There's still a lot to do, but here's some UI work I did today 📺🖌️
