As debate continues around new proposals to lower prescription drug prices for Americans, one thing is clear: the 2022 prescription drug law is already helping to lower costs for millions of patients across the country.

As of January 1, 2026, all major provisions of the law are in effect. What began as a series of phased-in reforms has lowered out-of-pocket costs, improved access, and brought greater predictability to millions of Americans.

Today, the House Energy & Commerce Committee advanced two bipartisan bills supported by P4ADNow that would help lower prescription drug costs and increase competition.

The Biosimilar Red Tape Elimination Act would cut through unnecessary red tape to speed up the entry of lower-cost biosimilar alternatives to the market, while the Stop GAMES Act would crack down on Big Pharma's abuse of citizen petitions used to block competition.

Both bills were included in the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act, which passed the committee unanimously.

Thank you, Rep @AugustPfluger for your leadership on the Biosimilar Red Tape Elimination Act (H.R. 5526), which would cut through unnecessary red tape to speed up the entry of lower-cost biosimilar alternatives to the market,increasing competition and lowering prescription drug costs for patients.

According to @KFF, 30% of Hispanic adults and 24% of Black adults in the US say they are very worried about being able to afford prescription medications for themselves or their families.
