2) I'm Listening
3) I’m sorry
4) How can I help
5) I appreciate you
6) you can do this
I think great administrators try to view things through the eyes of teachers… and I think great teachers try to view things through the eyes of students.
Most great teachers didn’t start out that way. But...
1) They reflected on what worked and what didn’t.
2) They learned from their colleagues.
3) They always kept their focus on the students.
There is a teacher that both my sons had in high school. They both raved about her. I asked my younger son what he liked about her. Without hesitating, he said: “She cares so much! She cares so much about her job!”
Genuine care is always noticed by the students.
There’s a right way and a right time to address your differences. Do it calmly, express your concerns, and then leave it there. Do what you can to keep the atmosphere loving, kind, and peaceful.
