Every athlete wants to perform at a higher level. But improvement isn’t built last minute...Champions are built in the offseason!🔥
It’s built through nutrition, recovery, sleep, hydration, and consistent training habits that happen long before the season starts.
In Episode 16 of The Wendi Irlbeck Show, we discuss what athletes, coaches, and sports parents need to understand about fueling performance and I share specific examples of what athletes should eat before and after training to maximize results.

💪Do you want higher testosterone levels?
Eat these 6 testosterone-supporting foods to help boost strength, power, energy, and muscle:
🥩Red meat
🍳Egg yolks
🦪Oysters
🥑 Avocado
❤️Pomegranate
🐟Fatty fish (salmon, sardines)
⚠️A 2021 study found that men who ate whole eggs after resistance training had higher testosterone levels compared to those who only ate egg whites.
So yes,eat the whole egg! Eggs really are nature’s multivitamin‼️
After age 40, men lose roughly 3–8% of muscle mass per decade (this rate increases after 70).
Losing 7–10% of body weight (especially fat) has been shown to significantly increase testosterone levels.
The American Urological Association defines low testosterone as < 300 ng/dL.
Levels under 400–500 ng/dL....especially with symptoms like low energy, muscle loss, or mood changes are worth paying attention to.
👍Focus on adequate protein (don’t go too low), titrate carbs and fats based on your training, prioritize sleep, and lift heavy weights!
🚨 Most student-athletes are making the same fueling mistakes every day...
❌ Skipping breakfast
❌ Grabbing an energy drink instead of real fuel
❌ Going hours without eating after practice
❌ Missing the critical recovery window after workouts
The result?
👉 Low energy during training
👉 Poor focus in the classroom
👉 Slower recovery
👉 Increased injury risk
👉 Missed opportunities to build strength, speed, and performance
What you eat BEFORE and AFTER a workout directly impacts your muscles, brain, recovery, and long-term athletic development.
🏃♀️ Pre-workout nutrition helps provide the energy needed to train hard, stay focused, and perform at your best.
💪 Post-workout nutrition helps replenish glycogen, repair muscle tissue, reduce soreness, and prepare your body for the next practice or competition. The good news? Small fueling changes can make a BIG difference.
