“Today, we take one step closer to making America the crypto capital of the world !”
Clarity ACT :
Enhanced regulatory clarity: BTC will be clearly classified as a digital commodity under the primary supervision of the CFTC. This reduces the risk of SEC interference in the market (ending "regulation by application" attacks).
Institutional trust → Easier for banks, funds, ETFs, etc. This accelerates mass adoption (custody, derivatives, etc.).
Secondary market protection: BTC transactions on exchanges or peer-to-peer are clearly treated as commodities, not securities.
Framework for ETFs and financial products: This further facilitates new products (futures, options, etc.) and strengthens the legitimacy of existing spot ETFs.
No centralized control: BTC perfectly meets the "mature blockchain" criteria of the text (strong decentralization, no group controlling >20% of the supply or voting power).
Basically, for BTC, it's primarily about regulatory comfort and a boost for institutional investors. Less uncertainty = more money coming in.
The Senate Banking Committee approved it yesterday (May 14, 2026) by a bipartisan vote of 15-9. This is an important step, but it's not over yet.
Next steps: Vote in the Senate plenary session.
Possible reconciliation with the House version.
Signature of the President (Trump, in the current context).
Things are moving forward for the crypto industry (clarification of the SEC/CFTC roles, rules for decentralized tokens, etc.), but nothing is set in stone until it's signed.
