Also thanks to all those concerned citizens who signed petitions, came to meetings, open houses, sent letters to the powers that be, and supported PACTPOW in our efforts. As Chevy Chase used to say on SNL, “Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow”.
P. Wealleans here. I am resigning from PACTPOW effective immediately. I want to thank the members of PACTPOW, esp J. Dies and P. Kuebler, Ajax Council, esp the previous Council led by Steve Parish, Dr. M Auer, Ajax staff, esp the 2 Rachaels and Christie.
Its like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted. The Region has been given the OK to do what it wanted. An Advisory Cmtee to do do research that the Town has completed?
WRT the algae decision. Not going to go into detail about the decision and letter. There are a number of points to take issue with but will focus on one condition. An Advisory Committee will be struck to do more studies and monitoring. This is a joke.
This is very dissapointing. The Town and its scientific research show that the plant IS the main point source for phosphorus that feeds the algae. The decision makers put their heads in the sand and hope the problem will dissappear. It wont.
The Min of the Env has released his decision that tertiary sewage treatment will NOT be imposed at the Duffins Creek sewage plant. The Town, PACTPOW and concerned citizens have been requesting it for 10 years to solve the proliferation problem of algae along our waterfront.
@RodPhillips01 @JeffYurekMPP Lakeview Park, Oshawa. Aug 31st, 2019. Ajax. Pickering. Whitby. Oshawa. This problem is real, Mr. Ministers. A solution is in your hands. Our kids and grand kids are waiting for your decision. The DC sewage plant needs to be fixed.
@lornecoe@C_Mulroney@RodPhillips01 @lparkpc @VijayThaniMPP @GOtransit@RegionofDurham Too bad you couldn’t have taken a quick trip to the Ajax shoreline to see the algae on the shoreline. Minister Phillips knows how to get there. Unfortunate Minister Yurek wasn’t there.
@JeffYurekMPP @RodPhillips01@TownOfAjax@mayor_collier Today, Aug 28/19 at Paradise Beach, Ajax. Algae. Paradise Beach, indeed! Mr. Ministers, a solution is available. Tertiary treatment needs to be implemented at Duffins Creek Sewage Plant. It is the cause.
@RodPhillips01 @JeffYurekMPP Today at Vets Point in Ajax, Ontario. Algae is back but later than usual likely because our spring was later than usual. But, it still here. Mr. Ministers, esp Mr Phillips, you know the solution. Duffins Creek Sewage Plant is the problem.
@kmcaleer@TownOfAjax We hesitate to respond to this. Because. Well, the Leafs just lost and we just saw this now but...the burning question in Ajax politics is...who owns the “Save Our Waterfront” logo?
@NiagaraRiverRAP An example of a future vision. We only rent time here. Then, the next tenant (generation) takes over the lease. Do not be short sighted.
@AjaxPolitics Thank you, AjaxPolitics. We were just trying to save the Ajax waterfront for our kids and grand kids. Lets hope Mr. Phillips puts them ahead of $.
@kmcaleer@TownOfAjax Not sure where you were for the last 8 years but now, with PACTPOWs help, and after scientific proof, the decision is with the Min of the Env, R. Phillips. Lets hope for a good outcome. Kurtis, there are not bogeyman under every couch. Even though you think there are.
@kmcaleer@TownOfAjax Kurtis, PACTPOW was never funded by the Town. Any expenses came from our pockets. We shared the common goal with the Town to get rid of the algae on our shoreline. So we worked together. For 8 yrs, we fought the Regions to help clean up our waterfront. And you make it political
