Last week, I had the honour of attending he
Pan African Congress on Autism (PACA) an experience that left me with a lot to reflect on, especially during Autism Awareness Month. It was organised by @PAC_Autism
As part of @GeuzaWazo , I’m always learning. But PACA opened up new layers of understanding, particularly around the co-occurrence of Autism and Epilepsy. It’s a topic I had come across before, but this time, it was explained so clearly and simply that it finally clicked.
One session that stood out for me featured parents sharing the kinds of comments they’ve received over the years some of them incredibly insensitive. It was real. Honest. A reminder of the daily realities many families navigate with grace and strength.
It was also such a pleasure to meet and connect with fellow disability advocates people like @bobodee, Doreen Gitonga and Jaki Mathaga who are doing incredible work in this space.
These moments of community are always a highlight for me.
We’ve shared the link to that discussion here: https://t.co/9epeHfLPpo
I encourage you to listen these are the conversations that challenge us to think differently and build more inclusive spaces.
We’re also working on compiling a playlist of key moments from the event stay tuned for that. Because at Geuza Wazo, we believe change starts with understanding.

There are 1.1 million disabled children in the UK. Yet, our research shows that over half of them have had their conditions worsen in the pandemic. Therapies. Health appointments. Respite care. All reduced. This isn't right. We have to do better. We need recovery. #LeftInLockdown
For people with autism, access to work on an equal basis requires creating an enabling environment & reasonable accommodation.
