Our Vice President, Angel Bashyal, delivered a talk to an audience of over 200 participants from six different continents at the IAU386 symposium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The talk focused on the socio-economic context of Nepal in relation to dark sky π πͺ opportunities. #iau386
β¦our PAS member Saroj Tiwari with the whole team of KarmaFlight and Educate Nepal Project had to return. We will try to go back to Humla in a month or two. We are glad that they are coming back safely.

We want to announce the completion of our "Astronomy in Rural Areas of Nepal" project supported by the Royal Astronomical Society and https://t.co/kRDjvPFaY7. The project involved distributing 12 telescopes (Celestron 130 EQ), together with the stationary materials needed β¦[1/]
to go on roads for our final school on the last day.
Route: Pokhara - Lukum - Kol - Jang - Kharabang - Maikot - Taksera - Arnakot - Dhorpatan - PKR
We also attempted to install one telescope in humla. However, due to landslides and road blockages, in rural areas of Nepal"
β¦During this project at Rukum, I wouldnβt lie-there were times we wanted to sleep after 12-14 hrs of walking but seeing the excitement on their face and their eyes lit up, we just couldnβt. The village, which normally sleeps at 8 pm, stayed up till 1 am with us.
