@jarredsumner@saltyAom https://t.co/djMA5WZtfk ... wow, okay, now let's see the prediction markets! which Rust rewrite ships first? pnpm v12 is already at rc6, bun1.4 is canary, but already in prod, yet unreleased ... oh the suspense! *bites nails*
@jacobegner@labomen001@binarybits seems like a fake/bot profile created in May, generated profile photo, ridiculous personal intro. (contributing to a fake account - fresh linkedin Astrologist, Psychologist, Developer - either run by some group or someone has too much free time)

@dandnd@mattyglesias the aggressive rhetoric of uncompromising purity (left or right) makes regular politics look corrupt ("look, they are making deals with the Devil!"), and echochambers make it hard to agree on more objective metrics of prosperity
@armsq17@margerymeanwell@quirkyllama@mattyglesias this is true of the main argument too. (correlation of DSA policies with history is not causation)
the question is how much of the variance is best explained by "DSA policies" or "women's rights", after all absent strong evidence of orthogonality we expect the same correlation
@tcp_handshake@simonw there are public prerelease builds, they are just not on github (or at least I haven't seen them)
bun upgrade --canary
[13.42s] Upgraded.
bun --revision
1.4.0-canary.1+98f664962
and claude code has releases, but no bun revision info in -v or in changelog
@thePalenimbus@Noahpinion a country almost completely optimized for getting to work by car is good at getting to work. the problem is that getting anywhere else is also only by car. and thus drastically more time spent in said cars even if not commute (to/from work).
@JKellisonLinn@mattyglesias why? supply is kept artificially constrained, demand is a given. students are forced to buy new editions, which are priced based on the same vibes the tuition itself. it's yet another component in the costs of credentialism.
@CGeorgevski@CilComLFC@LConeCNN@clarissaward let people pick and pursue their own vocation?
or do you think she's there without informed consent?
sent there by some all-powerful yet strictly no-name mid-level executive? peer pressured to feign enthusiasm?
@saurabhchalke@moxie it also served as a pretty nice randomized global "VC round", lots of money went to tinkerers and other curious ppl. it's not worse or better than getting absorbed by finance or adtech or building one more JS framework. and probably better than getting stuck on 4chan/tiktok/ig
You have to imagine he was put on a lot of pain killers. Of course that solves nothing so here’s a kid with a back surgery and pills just wanting his life back. Based on his writings he is clearly a smart and open minded kid that turned to mushrooms for answers. He knew that there is no solution in relief. There’s no point in masking the pain, perhaps he thought by opening his mind further he would better come to answers for his body.
@sheonhan@asteriskmgzn Life might be a boring sinusoidal, but this meta-level essay just keeps on giving, like a Bosch pa... like a birthday gan... like a GPT-... like Z(s) at 1/2 + ... !
