September is Chronic Pain Awareness Month.
There is more to chronic pain than the pain itself. This month, let’s listen to lived experiences, question assumptions, recognise what we may not see, and take action.
Understand. Question. See. Act.

Happy New Month! 💚
Welcome to September — Chronic Pain Awareness Month.
This month, we’re making space for lived experiences, meaningful conversations, and voices that deserve to be heard.
Here’s to more understanding, support, and advocacy.

One of the hardest parts of chronic pain can be having to prove that your pain is real.
Tola shares what it feels like to be doubted because there’s no clear diagnosis to explain what she experiences.
You may not see the pain. Believe the person living with it.
#painawareness
What does a difficult pain day actually feel like?
For Tola, it means simple tasks becoming exhausting, pushing through when she has no choice, and carrying the emotional weight of falling behind.
Chronic pain doesn’t pause for deadlines or responsibilities.
#paveinitiative
What happens when you live with persistent pain but don’t have a diagnosis to explain it?
Tola shares what it means to live with unanswered questions while navigating pain that has become part of everyday life.
A lack of diagnosis doesn’t make pain any less real.

What does living with chronic pain really look like?
Ken shares his experience—from living with multiple conditions and difficult pain days to the frustration of having his pain dismissed or misunderstood.
These are the parts of chronic pain we don't always see.

What helps someone keep going when chronic pain becomes part of everyday life?
For Ken, it's accessibility aids, small moments of distraction, and holding on to hope.
His story is a reminder: listen, believe, and make room for lived experiences.

What does living with chronic pain really look like?
Sometimes, it means learning how to hide the pain.
We asked people living with chronic pain: If the world could understand one thing about your experience, what would you want them to know?
What does living with chronic pain really look like when you hear it from the person experiencing it?
At PAVe, we believe there is so much to understand beyond the words “I live with chronic pain.”
It can shape different parts of a person's life, in ways that may not always be visible to others.
Before our official launch, we began reaching out to people living with chronic pain and inviting them to share their experiences.
And as we continue this work, what we learn will help us shape the conversations we have, the education we provide, the communities we reach, the rehabilitation and support we promote, and the change we advocate for.

PAVe is more than an initiative, We are a community committed to ensuring that the voices of people living with chronic pain are amplified, misconceptions are challenged, rehabilitation is promoted, and meaningful change is advocated for.
PAVe Initiative is here!
Pain Advocacy & Voice Empowerment was built from a deep conviction that chronic pain, one of the most common and most dismissed experiences a person can live with deserves far more than silence.
We build communities where people in pain feel less alone. And we educate, workplaces, schools, and society because the more people understand pain, the better they can support those living with it.
