WALPE Africa- an Inter-Regional Pan African Women Political Leaders Mvt that promotes the full participation, representation &influence of women in leadership
We are excited to announce that WALPE Africa is now part of the @GAllianceCare membership. The Global Alliance for Care is the world’s first multi-stakeholder community advancing dialogue, learning & action on care, recognising care as a need, as work &as a right.
They also shared solutions including digital safety programs, solidarity networks, mentorship and support systems that are helping young women remain resilient and continue leading despite hostile environments. #EndViolenceAgainstWomen#AfricanWomenLead
To examine how conflict-related violence is hindering young women’s rise to leadership in Africa, WALPE Africa hosted an X Space featuring panelists from Sudan, Uganda, Zimbabwe & the DRC. The discussion explored the barriers young women continue to face in accessing leadership.
The discussion exposed how online harassment, abductions, political violence, hate speech and gender-based violence are pushing young women out of decision-making spaces and reversing gains toward gender equality.
Conflict-related violence continues to silence, exclude and endanger young women across Africa, limiting their participation and rise to leadership. Join us for an important #XSpace conversation as we unpack the barriers young women face in conflict settings.
