After 7 months of reporting "Let Us Live" is now out: A multimedia storytelling project that details the human cost of PA prisons and jails routine denial of Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) to incarcerated people, despite having been prescribed the medication by doctors
This is a win thanks to the brave folks we represented in our 2020 lawsuit with @PA_ILP against ACJ. It also wouldn't have been possible without the persistent work of our community organizer @tanishaevonne, our allies & the activists who fought to hold ACJ accountable.
If you or someone you know is impacted by the #opioid epidemic in #Philadelphia, you may be interested in attending our event.

Congratulations to @PA_ILP on its successful appeal on behalf of a Roy Lee Williams, who spent 26 years in solitary confinement. The appeals court held that Williams is entitled to file suit against prison officials for alleged cruel & unusual punishment. https://t.co/vxkUJLYq39
“I personally find it inspiring,” Feldman said of Williams and others who drafted the initial suits on their own. "They had the ingenuity to file these cases and craft compelling legal arguments. And I guess they had faith that they could vindicate their rights in court.”
BIG NEWS!
US appeals court says man can sue Pennsylvania over 26 years of solitary confinement
Mr. Roy Lee Williams is represented by our Supervising Attorney, Matthew Feldman

According to Feldman, about 5% of the state's prison population is in solitary confinement. He said that about half of that group — compared to one-third of the overall prison population — have a history of mental illness.
