CEO: We need more pilots, therefore we need to lower the bar...
Me: But isn’t the real issue a shortage of airline CEO candidates?
CEO: No, of course not...That’s just ridiculous - because we get paid very handsomely!
Me:
CEO: Oh, I see what you did there.

It was great to meet with @ALPAPilots from Texas during their visit to Capitol Hill. Pilots play a critical role in keeping America’s skies safe.
As Chairman of the @SenateCommerce Committee, I’ve worked to strengthen aviation safety by authoring the bipartisan ROTOR Act. The bill, which unanimously passed the Senate and has wide support in the House, would require ADS-B In wherever ADS-B Out is mandated, a critical technology that could’ve prevented last year’s tragic mid-air collision over the Potomac.
I appreciated the opportunity to discuss these priorities and thank them for their dedication to keeping the flying public safe.
"Equipping pilots with better tools, better data, better information is a common sense step towards preventing accidents." @RepBresnahan continues to fight for the mandates pilots need and aviation safety demands. #ALPA2026Summit
"We know what the problem is, we know what the solution is...Don’t allow it to be bartered away for saving pennies on the dollar when this will save lives." @RepValHoyle is not giving up on the fight for an ADS-B In mandate, and we're right there with her. #ALPA2026Summit
Sound aviation policy must be informed by the professionals who know the cockpit and understand the operational environment. Thank you, ALPA for inviting me to your 2026 Summit and for your unwavering commitment to aviation safety.
The @ALPAPilots represents over 80,000 pilots at more than 40 airlines across the U.S. and Canada.
As a member of the Subcommittee on Aviation for @TransportDems, I was delighted to meet with ALPA representatives on ways we can continue to improve air safety across the aviation industry.
This afternoon, I met with the Air Line Pilots Association to discuss supporting the pilots who keep our aviation system moving.
I'm grateful for the work ALPA members do every day and will continue supporting efforts to protect their safety and livelihoods.
"We cannot change what happened...but we have the opportunity to make changes from the lessons learned." Tim and Sheri Lilley give a heartfelt keynote in memory of their son, Honorary Capt. Sam Lilley. @famofflight5342 deserve action. #ALPA2026Summit
@ALPAPresident and Tim and Sheri Lilley told reporters today: a full ADS-B In mandate must be in any final aviation safety legislation Congress passes. Lives are on the line –– safety cannot wait. #ALPA2026Summit
The U.S. aviation system is the safest in the world, but it's sending clear warning signs it's under strain. As the voice of aviation safety, airline pilots will not stand by silently. We're urging Congress to pass the best of the ROTOR and ALERT Acts. https://t.co/11qNoQ7M5M
🚨HISTORY MADE!🚨
Nearly 70,000 Massachusetts rideshare drivers have officially won union recognition through the App Drivers Union — powered by the IAM Union and @32BJSEIU — becoming the FIRST union for rideshare drivers in United States history.✊🚗
2/4 Numbers released by Duffy & Bedford last week refute this. FAA's own ATC Workforce Plan shows 10,693 certified professional controllers (CPCs) in Sep 2025 under Trump/Duffy/Bedford. Rather than an increase, this actually was a DECREASE.

“The complex environment of the North Atlantic Track System (NATS) demands the highest level of safety and training.
All pilots - not just Captains - should be fully trained for these transatlantic operations. “
#ScheduleWithSafety@ALPAPilots
“…the Company is providing 737 Line Check Pilots (LCPs) withobservational training from the jumpseat of a different type of aircraft. Because these 737 flights are unaugmented, the Company has decided LCPs will then train Captains only; First Officers will NOT receive training.”
We extend our support to our fellow ALPA pilots and their families during this difficult time. Read the update from our MEC Chair Captain Brian Noyes on how United pilots can continue to support Spirit pilots: https://t.co/y8ZNZtd6l1
