I’m not educated enough to speak on this completely but umpires should be talking through the early stages of this rule change so batters at least have a little heads up. Feels like some umpires might love this power shift of grey area
This. Is. Terrible. The game is becoming unwatchable in all new ways. For the “it’s the rule” crowd, save it. You complained loudly when it wasn’t. This isn’t fantasy baseball. Players careers ride on these numbers. It’s embarrassing.
MLB owners have long colluded to suppress Minor League wages. Now they're colluding to prevent teams from providing housing stipends.
But for baseball’s antitrust exemption, this conduct would be criminal.
It’s time for Congress to remove the exemption.

BREAKING: In a survey of over 11,000 fans, @TheAthletic found "Minor League pay and living conditions" is the #1 problem that baseball fans care about.
Fans don’t want to root for exploitation machines.
It’s time for MLB to give Minor Leaguers a seat at the table.
So torn on this #SuperBowl quick hypothetical. If I married Tom, neither of our names would change...if I married Mahomes and he took my name we’d both have the same name.
@Burkaholics If that coach has a son or daughter I’d be willing to bet they’ll hate the game by the time they’re in high school. Largely if not only because their father has little to no feel
Sometimes life feels like you're trapped inside a urine-burping septic tank of hate. But then you pause. Take a cleansing breath and here's the trailer for #FreeGuy
Most Minor Leaguers make less than $10K per year. Meanwhile, MLB's new TBS deal amounts to around $18 million per team per year.
For $1 million per year, teams could double MiLB salaries. https://t.co/Kct5MPJEVT
@MiLBAdvocates I don’t need to share my entire story for people to realize that minor league players don’t get paid enough. My family is the only reason I was able to play 7 seasons in the Milb. Worked all of my off seasons and barely saved up enough to make it comfortably through the next.
Baseball is a $10 billion industry. No Minor League player should have to worry about their next meal during normal times, let alone during a global pandemic.
Extend the stipends through the offseason.
