You can be the most talented player on the team, but if you don’t:
• Know the sets & offense
• Take pride in your defense
• Make hustle plays
• Talk on both ends of the floor
• Accept coaching
You will lose minutes and find a spot at the end of the bench.

As a player you can:
Spend 4 years in a program
or
Build a legacy on a program in 4 years
The second option requires more dedication, but is significantly more rewarding.

Freshman want to play.
Sophomores want to score.
Juniors want to start.
Seniors want to win.
Dedicate all four years of your high school career to winning and you'll be far more successful, both individually and as a team.

Coaches can teach:
- Offensive Schemes/sets
- Defensive Principles
- Game Scenarios
- Life Lessons
Coaches cannot teach:
- Effort
If you are willing to get better, your coach will help you get better. Improvement is a two way street!
HS/JUCO PLAYERS: Stop waiting around for a "better offer" if you have been recruited and offered by college programs. If you have the "D1 or bust" mentality, there's a better chance you'll end up at home then on a court next year.
ATHLETES: You have to be willing to sacrifice. Sports will offer you great opportunities in life, but know you will miss out on:
- Family Time
- Parties
- Birthdays
- Holidays
The payoff is WORTH it. Sacrifice time now to receive a greater payout when you are older.
PLAYERS: When is the last time you cleaned up your social media? Old tweets/posts resurface and become a direct reflection of your character. It could ultimately cost you thousands of dollars in scholarships.
@Michael2Turner@HHA_basketball Absolutely, Michael. The players who care more about the wins and losses are more desirable than the kids who are looking to tweet out their highlights.
PLAYERS: Why be flashy when you can be fundamental? Worry less about making the highlight play. Coaches would rather have a player who talks on defense, executes on offense, and runs the floor in transition than a player who is putting together their hoop mixtape.

One of the most underrated aspects in basketball is bench energy. Teammates who are excited for each other, regardless of who plays valuable minutes, will be more successful than teams that have players who complain about their role. The only important stat is winning. #Team
