Press Club of India is thrilled to invite you to the second annual literature festival, from
October 24 to 26, 2026.
This year’s PCI LitFest will continue the tradition of scintillating discussions around the media landscape, thoughtfully curated book stalls, and book launches for books written by PCI members.
In a democracy, the fourth pillar must never be silenced.
Those in authority must respect and uphold the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression enshrined in the Constitution.
It is heartening that the Delhi Police returned the journalists’ (Lakhvinder and Rajvender) camera after the Press Club of India raised the issue yesterday.
A free press is not a privilege granted by those in power; it is an essential pillar of democracy.
Journalists take out a silent protest march around the Press Club of India condemning the assault on and detention of media persons covering the CJP protests.
Journalists condemn the attack on media persons covering the CJP protests on October 10, calling for accountability and respect for press freedom.
“Attacks on journalists carrying out their professional duties are unacceptable and undermine the fundamental right of the media to report freely and fearlessly.”
The Press Club of India’s statement on Delhi Police’s action against journalists and imposition of Internet ban in and around Jantar Mantar area:—
The Press Club of India is shocked and dismayed at the Delhi Police's actions against and treatment of journalists during the protests at Jantar Mantar against the chief election commissioner on Friday and Saturday.
Behaviour of this kind cannot be normalised in a democracy.
Journalists must be allowed to work freely, without fear, and document those who gather to raise various issues. That this is not being allowed even at the heart of the national capital does not bode well for the trajectory of media freedom in India.
The Delhi Police (@DelhiPolice) must immediately act on the female journalist's complaint and ensure that it gives mediapersons the space to do their jobs without having to face aggression and threats.
The Press Club of India condemns the West Bengal Police's decision to file an FIR against Maktoob Media for its reporting.
We urge the West Bengal Police to withdraw this FIR immediately and ensure that journalists are able to do their job without fear.
@WBPolice
The Press Club of India is shocked and deeply concerned that the Delhi Police decided to detain at least two journalists who were covering a protest at Jantar Mantar on September 25 regarding actions of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
We urge the @DelhiPolice to apologise to the journalists who were not able to work and whose equipment was lost because of this incident, and to refrain from acting in this manner in the future.
The Press Club of India is deeply concerned about independent journalist Ravi Nair's continued incarceration in Gujarat.
We urge authorities in Gujarat to release Nair while the courts decide on his appeals, and to ensure that the criminal defamation law is not used to target journalists.
