THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN! Galewood residents have - for now - defeated Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson's plan to convert the Amundsen Park field house into a migrant shelter. Park staff were asked to turn over their keys as migrants planned to arrive as early as Tuesday. But that was put on hold after residents threatened to chain themselves to the park's front door! Ha! #thatreporter

The field house is home to a football program, senior care and after school activities.
