STATEMENT OF THE FAMILY PEREIRA

In the wake Governor @BillRichardson recent passing, I and my family are deeply saddened and concerned.

We want to express our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, including @MickeyBergman , his steadfast companion in the @RichardsonCenter

Governor Richardson's dedication to the noble cause of freeing Americans wrongfully detained abroad holds a special place in our hearts. He played a pivotal role in advocating for my release and that of my five colleagues, known as the Citgo 6, offering unwavering support to our families during our harrowing ordeal.

@MickeyBergman Vice President of the Richardson Center, aptly captured Governor Richardson's indomitable spirit, stating, "He lived his entire life in the service of others – including his career helping to free people held hostage or wrongfully detained abroad."

His tireless efforts brought hope and justice to us and countless others.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of not only a mentor but a dear friend to many.

Governor Richardson's legacy as a champion for those unjustly held overseas will forever resonate with us.

His compassion and relentless pursuit of justice will continue to inspire us as we remember the remarkable life of Governor Bill Richardson.

Yesterday I was honored to be in the annual reception of Hostage US , a wonderful organization that advocates and gives support to the families and Hostages, during their process of detention and after the return from detention .

People can not imagine how important is this support to the families , and to the detained.

But is huge and immense the support Hostage US give and the work it does “behind the scenes “
