Yesterday we got started planting our new Orchard! Thanks to Mat from @EcoSchoolssouth @KeepWalesTidy and some of our @YR5PDCS pupils who got stuck in and all had a fabulous time!
Earlier on this week Year 4 couldn't wait to check in with our bees. After a few weeks off we were glad to see they were doing well, even in the cold weather!
Our groups are taking part in 'Spring Bulbs for Schools 2023-24'. Planting day was on October 20th. Have a look what we got up to! @PDCSPrimary@Professor_Plant
More polytunnel progress this week with @PDCSYr3and4 and @Year6PDCS
Recycling cardboard as weed-proof fabric, then woodchip on top. Also, building a raised bed to go inside!
We continued working on our mosaic signs this week with @Year6PDCS and @PDCSYr3and4. Our Year 5 and 6 pupils have designed the signs that we are making. We are looking forward to seeing them displayed in the outdoor classroom. #mosaics#creativecontributors#teamwork
Its been a busy few weeks in @PDCSAlternative with lots of little projects getting underway. We've started to strip out the old chicken run and turn it back into a polytunnel. Lots of rubbish, weeds, and chicken wire to remove, and there was even some time to study some wildlife!
Yesterday we said goodbye and good luck to our @Year6PDCS group. We are so proud of them and look forward to hearing about all their new achievements in Year 7 and beyond. πβ¨@PDCSPrimary
Weβve been busy creating new minibeast habitats in our Forest School sessions this week. Recycling materials to create a wormery and exploring the field for loose parts to make new homes for insects that visit our field. @yr2PDCS @PDCSYr3and4 @PDCSPrimary#forestschool
Our minibeast topic continues with our @PDCSYr3and4 and @Year6PDCS groups! We found worms in our field and we decided to measure them with our worm ruler to see how long they were and if they were all the same length. The longest worm we found was 12cm long. #naturedetectives πͺ±
We began making our own compost this week with our @YR5PDCS group. We are excited to see how the compost changes over the next few weeks and look forward to using it in our outdoor area to help our plants grow. πͺ΄π±π₯π₯π°
