Mike Lorenzo Vera took time away from the sport last year to work on his mental health. He then came back and shot an opening 5 under, 67 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. It’s awesome to see him back 💪
You often hear that communication is key in building good quality relationships but what about the barriers of communication?
Here is a new research paper with my international colleagues - open access

"We're always under pressure. There's always something to play for. Everybody here has got something to play for."
Fighting to keep his card for next season, Matt Southgate opens up on the pressure of the final regular event of the season.

Utspring! 🦆
@MitchAbramsPsyD@DrBhrettMcCabe To promote growth we can evaluate "relationship with feedback"=Emotional or informational responses at the root. As such, to "meet the receiver where they're at" it can increase receptivity to ask "how do you want your feedback" Can result in Shared ownership/intention/growth
@MitchAbramsPsyD@DrBhrettMcCabe Absolutely gentlemen, coming from a sport background I'm constantly requesting feedback as an indicator of development & direction....other domains are less open to offer it & can sadly communicate evaluation in less productive outlets (gossip).
I need YOUR help. In the 17 years + since I’ve been involved, our Government do not recognise Deaf athletes. We receive NO funding. This can’t continue. I’m tired of fighting!
Please help by signing the petition and give Deaf athletes what they deserve

Choosing to exercise in connection with a bigger social cause/purpose can enhance motivation & fulfill basic psychological needs..it feels good in anticipation, during, & remembering the activity. A virtuous circle of positive/perpetual physical activity! https://t.co/uANme63nXX
Don’t forget to add the 2nd edition of the social psychology in sport text to your 2024 wish list/your literature list etc. A great resource for students, researchers, and coaches! Please retweet 😊
The love of the game comes first and foremost. Create an environment, before, during, and after, where kids can find their own love of the game as well as connections with friends and family. Sustainable sport that lasts a lifetime is built on enjoyment, not achievement.

Good read in @BPSOfficial by @PeteOlusoga on British identity. Growing up in Canada to English mother & Irish father, identity fluctuated with national sporting success. Britishness became problematic when working with indigenous populations & awareness of effects of colonisation

7am Sunday morning to drive 50km to hockey. Similar to growing up in Canada just without the Tim Hortons (in Sweden you bring a thermos of your own... and pack a lunch for the kids).
@JowettSophia @SportPsychAus and I are excited to share that the 2nd edition of the social psychology of sport text will soon be in print! We were so happy to receive the final proof this week before it goes to printers. Big thanks to all those who contributed
