The status quo power brokers in Portland want to undo the bold changes proposed in our charter reform package that was informed by the community voices these changes intend to amplify.
We can't let them.

A reminder that we got a SUPERMAJORITY in our 17-3 charter reform package vote. Do you know how hard it is to get 17 people to agree? IN PORTLAND?
That was NOT easy. It took hard work in public meetings and behind the scenes to build a united coalition. THIS IS GOOD ACTUALLY!

As a political/community leader, I'm aware that moving difficult issues forward requires compromise. But a "two sides compromise" platform isn't compelling to me because not everything is worth compromising & not all issues are two sided.
Some things are worth fighting for! ✊🏾
A lot of the issues we are currently seeing happen in our city were due to a lack of support systems being in place and Covid exacerbating the problems tenfold.
We need to approach things like homelessness with a collective and humane approach to make a real change.
Just had to ask some white teenagers not to use the N-word as I was waking past them. For all our parents of white children out there, this is another part of the race conversation you should be having with your kids. They are using it frequently and it’s not okay.

My entire life, I have had to endure the infuriating double standard to always take the high road, even in situations where I am wronged, disrespected, and aggressed upon. Not only that, but it always seems to be my responsibility to "fix it". I'm fed up and will not tolerate it.
Instead of requiring people to move into emergency shelters as the mayor’s office has suggested, advocates for people living outdoors say the smarter solution is to offer homes that are already built. https://t.co/Fv6g0JMZEY
Today a diverse group of housing advocates officially launched the #3000challenge to move 3,000 unhoused Portlanders into housing by the end of 2022!

If you think the concept of abolishing police & prisons today is too radical to be entertained, you would not have been an abolitionist working to end slavery which was an equally radical notion & carried criminal penalties for those who disrupted the slave economy.

After installing 18 “traffic-calming” barrels within a 6-block radius, shootings in the area dropped 64%, she said.
