Εκπροσωπώντας ως συνήγορος υποστήριξης κατηγορίας 92 απόδημους που είδαν τα e-mail τους να διαρρέουν από το Υπουργείο Εσωτερικών προς γραφεία κομματικών στελεχών κατά παραβίαση του εκλογικού απορρήτου, συμμετείχα και σήμερα, μαζί και με άλλους συναδέλφους μου, στην διαδικασία ενώπιον του Δ' Τριμελούς Πλημμελειοδικείου Αθηνών.

Σήμερα ολοκληρώθηκαν στο Δικαστήριο οι απολογίες των τεσσάρων κατηγορουμένων, όλων επιφανών και επίλεκτων κομματικών στελεχών, καθένας με την δική του ιστορία και υπόβαθρο.

Τα νεότερα που ειπώθηκαν από τους ίδιους κατηγορούμενους αφορούν κυρίως τον τρόπο με τον οποίο ισχυρίζονται ότι επικοινώνησαν μαζί τους κυβερνητικοί παράγοντες για την διαχείριση της εκτόνωσης της αντιπολιτευτικής αξιοποίησης του θέματος, ενόψει της ανάγκης προστασίας της επιστολικής ψήφου, ως θεσμικής μεταρρύθμισης.

Καθένας από την δική του πλευρά, ισχυρίζεται ότι είναι θύμα μας προσπάθειας επικοινωνιακής διαχείρισης, η οποία τελικά τους οδήγησε στο εδώλιο του κατηγορουμένου. Αυτό κατάλαβα ως κεντρικό νόημα στις απολογίες τους, δηλαδή σε μια στιγμή που είναι ιερή για κάθε κατηγορούμενο.

Ενώ οι διοικητικές ευθύνες (πρόστιμα) έχουν αποδοθεί από την Αρχή Προστασίας Δεδομένων από το 2024 κι έχουν κριθεί αμετάκλητα από το Συμβούλιο της Επικρατείας με τις αποφάσεις του 2025, όπου παρέστην ως πληρεξούσιος των παρεμβαινόντων αποδήμων, η αξία της ποινικής διαδικασίας που φέρνει τα ίδια τα πρόσωπα σε αδιαμεσολάβητο διάλογο με τις δικαστικές λειτουργούς της έδρας είναι μεγάλη, ως προς την αναζήτηση της ουσιαστικής αλήθειας.

Οι απόδημοι περιμένουν μια ολοκληρωμένη απάντηση από αυτή την δίκη για το ποιός τελικά είναι αυτός που διαβίβασε τα στοιχεία τους από το Υπουργείο Εσωτερικών στα κομματικά στελέχη. Το ερώτημα αυτό που ανατρέχει στις απαρχές του τεράστιου αυτού σκανδάλου που έπληξε την αξιοπιστία της Πολιτείας ως προς την διασφάλιση του εκλογικού απορρήτου, είμαι αισιόδοξος ότι θα απαντηθεί από το ποινικό δικαστήριο, μετά από παρέλευση δύο ετών από την αποστολή των περίφημων e-mail και τριών ετών από την αρχική διαρροή της 23.6.2023.

Στις 16 Ιουνίου θα συνεχιστεί η διαδικασία, με την πρόταση της Εισαγγελέως της έδρας.

Θα ακολουθήσουν οι δικές μας αγορεύσεις, μετά οι αγορεύσεις των συνηγόρων υπεράσπισης και στο τέλος το Δικαστήριο θα απαγγείλει την απόφασή του.

Παράλληλα, το Διοικητικό Πρωτοδικείο Αθηνών έχει εκδόσει ήδη μια σειρά 6 αποφάσεων επί ατομικών αγωγών αποδήμων κατά του Δημοσίου, με τις οποίες έχουν επιδικαστεί ήδη μια σειρά αποζημιώσεων που εκκινούν από 2.000 και φτάνουν μέχρι και τις 5.000 ευρώ κατ' άτομο. Οι αποφάσεις αυτές είναι τελικές και δεν υπόκεινται σε έφεση.

Last night, a group reported to be 34 people contacted Aegean Boat Report while drifting 3.5 nautical miles east of the Greek island of Farmakonisi.

According to the people onboard, the Greek Coast Guard had intercepted their boat, destroyed the engine, and left them helplessly drifting at sea in the border area between Greece and Turkey.

One message from the boat read:

“Water is coming into the boat. Women and children onboard. Please help us.”

The Turkish Coast Guard was immediately informed and launched a rescue operation. All 34 people were rescued and taken back to Turkey.

A similar incident occurred the previous night, 7 nautical miles northeast of the Greek island of Chios, involving 31 people. In that case as well, the people onboard reported that they had been intercepted by the Greek Coast Guard, their engine disabled, and left drifting at sea before being rescued by the Turkish Coast Guard.

No lives were lost in either incident.

But deliberately disabling engines and abandoning people in overcrowded, unseaworthy boats at sea during the night, without life-saving equipment or any means of reaching safety, is a recipe for tragedy.

In these two incidents alone, 65 people were left adrift at sea.

It is not a question of whether people will drown. People will drown.

The only question is when.

Aegean Boat Report will continue to monitor, document, and report these incidents. As long as people remain at risk in the Aegean, we will continue to be there to receive their calls for help, document what happens, and ensure that these events do not disappear in silence.
