Mightier Together. The union of workers at POLITICO and E&E News. @newsguild @CWAUnion

[Insider Union ✊ @InsiderUnion]

1. Journalism is human-led.
2. AI can’t take our jobs.
3. Workers should be able to choose whether they use AI tools in their work.

These principles are vital to a future in which our journalism continues to be accurate, trustworthy, and engaging. (2/7)

[Insider Union ✊ @InsiderUnion]

Our union is currently negotiating for sensible AI protections in our workplace. We believe in three basic principles when it comes to artificial intelligence in our newsroom: (1/7)

This morning, Secret Service barred our own @PENGuild member Cheyenne Haslett from the White House simply for doing her job.

Press access cannot be weaponized against journalists for their reporting. An attack on one outlet's ability to cover the White House is an attack on a free press for all of us.

We stand with our member and every journalist targeted for doing their job.

Reaction to today's announcement from the union that represents @EENewsUpdates and @politico newsroom employees:

[Ariel Wittenberg @ArielWittenberg]

Heard from a lot of loyal readers asking if we're OK this morning following news that @politico plans to kill the @EENewsUpdates brand. There's still a lot of questions. Here's what we've told management so far:

[penguild @penguild]

Shuttering E&E News goes directly against what @politico @POLITICOPro management told staff earlier this year, when our colleagues were asked to consider buyouts. A message from PEN Guild leadership 👇

New: Politico is folding E&E, the energy trade publication it bought in 2020.

The company says it is reorganizing its energy coverage under the Politico brand and launching a series of new state and global energy newsletters.

With Axel Springer eying conservative media assets and Mathias Döpfner amplifying his own views, Politico staffers are concerned about editorial independence, as its parent company’s ambitions come into focus

Standing in solidarity with these fabulous journalists. Our readers deserve news, not slop!

[Washington-Baltimore News Guild @WBNG32035]

When will @politico leaders detail their new "vision" for the newsroom? How many times do @penguild members have to ask for this insight into their own jobs?

[penguild @penguild]

@EENewsUpdates @POLITICOPro @politico And yet, @politico management still hasn’t met our main demand: Articulating the vision that allegedly precipitated these buyouts. We warned management when they announced this move that we would lose talented colleagues if they didn’t explain their reasons for doing this. 4/4

[penguild @penguild]

At least 19 of our @EENewsUpdates @POLITICOProcolleagues have decided to take the buyout and leave us this week.

It's no small amount. Not everyone was offered a buyout @politico. 1/4

[penguild @penguild]

@EENewsUpdates @POLITICOPro Buyouts from @politico represent:
21 percent of the newly-unified energy team, including 25 percent of E&E News
33 percent of the Magazine

And more from the central editing desk, data, visuals, graphics and interactives teams. 3/4
