What Swiss Lee said was distasteful, to say the least. Thousands of people were watching, and saying that Jamaica is preferable because you can simply throw your bottle anywhere, while the US makes you pay for garbage and follow the rules, is deeply disappointing.

Yes, Jamaica has a serious garbage collection problem. People sometimes wait days for collection. I understand that frustration.

But that does not make throwing garbage in gullies, mangroves, on beaches or in the sea acceptable.

We already have enough problems without people with hundreds of thousands of followers normalising behaviour that makes them worse.

I’m disappointed. And I’m going to call it out.

Having a platform comes with responsibility.
