What an excellent kick-off of our final PEP-NET conference in Naples with talks of our network initiator Leonie Ringrose about Z-DNA in epigenetic switching
Are you exited to use mathematical models to understand mammalian gene regulation? Join our lab as a PhD student in the #IMPRS-BAC ππ𧬠- Two weeks left to apply!
Here is a cheat sheet for everyone who is not as familiar with the terms of digital and analog gene regulation as we are after over 10 year of joined group meetings with the Howard group π§¬π»π±π @JohnInnesCentre
Gemsy on tour!π
Here are the upcoming scientific events I'll attend:
π16/05 (Tomorrow!) Speed Lecture Award #Bionnale@HealthCapitalBB
β‘24/05 EMBO Sys Biology conference @EMBOevents with a short talk
π19/06 5th XCI meeting #EMBOxChromosome23 with a short talk
Wish me π
So, 16 May there is this cool event where life science+ healthcare industries come together from around the world. I will try to convey the importance of tuning gene expression in 3 min. It's hard and I would need support. Please join, enjoy, and if you want vote for me (6 pm).
Thank you very much to our local hosts, all @MarioNicodemi lab members joined our sessions, discussions and showed us their city from the most beautiful side π
The last and most important THANK YOU is to Leonie and Marc who initiated the network. We would not be who we are without your impact. We hope we can carry your curiosity, dedication and love for science into the world and inspire many other scientist β₯οΈ
The grande finale was given by @iamalexabraham who also recently handed in his thesis and is waiting to defend. His chromstin polymer model gave us new insights into the co-existence of loop-extrusion and phase-separation at the single molecule level to shape chromatin folding.
Ana is our second industy PhD student with @Diagenode. She managed to develop and optimize a protocol for single-cell ncRNAseq! The results are impressive!
On Thursday, we spent the whole day stepping out of our comfort zones and working on our soft skills. In the morning, we worked on our presenation and communication skills in an improv theatre session with Thomas from Die Gorillas - Improtheater Berlin ...
Thomas is part of our PEP-NET family since day 1, when we all just got to know each other in Berlin about 4 years ago. We thanked him for all that he thought with awarding him an honorary PEP-NET PhD.
It is such a pleasure to join this group of fantastic scientists for the meeting this week! Very interactive discussions, great questions, and of course an awesome location in beautiful Naples :) thank you for having me!
