Today, I visited the revered Baba Boro Kachari Temple and offered my prayers, seeking the Almighty’s blessings for the health, well-being, and prosperity of the people of Bengal, and prayed that our State continues to move forward in peace and harmony.
This visit also marked an important step in restoring livelihoods. Nearly two years ago, a devastating fire had damaged the stalls adjacent to the temple, leaving several families without their means of income. I am pleased that today we were able to hand over the keys to newly constructed stalls, enabling them to resume their work with dignity.
The people of Diamond Harbour share a deep and enduring bond with me, one built on trust, affection, and a shared journey. As long as I am alive, I will continue to strive to honour the trust they have reposed in me. I remain committed to working tirelessly for their all-round welfare.
I am pleased to announce an increase of ₹500 in the monthly honorariums extended to our purohits and muezzins, whose service sustains the spiritual and social life of our communities. With this revision, they will now receive ₹2,000 per month.
At the same time, all fresh applications that have been duly submitted by purohits and muezzins have also been approved by the State Government.
We take pride in nurturing an environment where every community and every tradition is valued and strengthened. Our endeavour remains to ensure that the custodians of our rich spiritual heritage receive the recognition and support they deserve.
Murshidabad, West Bengal: On LPG Crisis, TMC MLA Reyat Hossain Sarkar says, "During the corona crisis we had seen that after banging the plates, every issues were solved. Now see, ask them to bang the plates then the problems will be solved and the cylinder will be available..."
I am very happy to announce the constitution and notification of the West Bengal Traders’ Welfare Board (WBTWB) which I committed at the State Traders’ Convention and the Business & Industry Conclave in December, 2025. We fulfill what we promise! This was a long-standing demand of our trading community. My heartiest congratulations to them.
The Board will provide an institutional platform for regular dialogue and coordination between the trading community and the Government, with representation from every district of the State. It will work to address the concerns of lakhs of traders.
The Chairperson of the Board will be the President of the Confederation of West Bengal Traders Association (CWBTA), the State’s apex body of traders, ensuring strong representation from the community itself.
Our traders are the backbone of Bengal’s economy. We remain committed to standing with them and working together to build a stronger, more vibrant economic future for our State.
International Santal Council, a private organisation, invited Hon’ble President to the 9th International Adivasi Santal Conference in Siliguri.
After Advanced Security Liaison, district administration flagged in writing to the President’s Secretariat that the organiser appeared inadequately prepared; the concern was also conveyed telephonically (For relevant letters and photographs, see my related facebook post)
The President’s Secretariat advance team visited on 05.03.26, was apprised of the lack of arrangements, yet the programme continued as scheduled.
Hon’ble President was received and seen off by Mayor Siliguri Municipal Corporation, DM Darjeeling and CP Siliguri Police Commissionerate strictly as per the approved lineup shared by the President’s Secretariat. CM, West Bengal was not part of the lineup or the dais plan. No protocol lapse happened on part of district administration.
BJP is disrespecting and misusing the highest chair in the country for its own party agenda. Most unfortunate.
Today, on International Women’s Day, I reflect on the strength, dignity and resilience of women who shape our lives. In Bengal, respect for women is not symbolic, it is woven into our culture. We worship Maa Durga as our daughter and call this land Bangla Ma.
For fifteen years, Bengal has been led by a woman whose courage and conviction have shown the country what determined leadership looks like. Under Smt. Mamata Banerjee, women’s empowerment has meant real support, opportunity and dignity for millions.
The true strength of Bengal lies in its women, whose courage and achievements inspire us to build a stronger, more just and equal society.

Today marks a moment of profound loss for us all with the passing of veteran political leader Shri Mukul Roy.
From the very foundation of the Trinamool Congress, he remained associated with the party, contributing significantly through his sharp political acumen and exceptional organisational skills. His role in strengthening the party structure during its formative years will always be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.
I paid my tributes to him at the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and later visited his residence in Kanchrapara to stand beside his grieving family. Joined by thousands of leaders, party workers, supporters, admirers, and long-time associates, I participated in the solemn funeral procession to the Halisahar Maha Shmashana, where his last rites were performed with reverence.
As we bid him a final farewell, we honour a life devoted to public service. His legacy will continue to endure in the foundations he helped strengthen and in the many lives he influenced. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
The demise of Mukul Roy marks the end of an era in Bengal’s political history. A veteran leader with vast experience. His contributions helped shape an important phase of the state’s public and political journey.
As a founding pillar of the All India Trinamool Congress, he was instrumental in expanding and consolidating the organisation during its formative years. His dedication to public life will be recalled with admiration.
I extend my sincere sympathies to his family, friends and admirers. May his soul be granted eternal peace.
On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, I extend my heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to all who are observing this sacred night of devotion.
Lord Shiva embodies both immense strength and boundless compassion, the destroyer of evil, yet the eternal source of balance and benevolence. His message calls upon us to rise above ego, to act with restraint and to uphold truth and justice in all that we do.
May this holy night inspire us to reflect deeply, renew our resolve and dedicate ourselves to the service of humanity. May it bring peace to every home, harmony to our society and strength to overcome every adversity.
Wishing everyone a blessed and spiritually uplifting Maha Shivratri.
Har Har Mahadev! 🙌🏼
I was shaken to my core upon learning of the brutal murder of Sukhen Mahato, a young migrant worker from Bandwan in Purulia, who had travelled to Pune in search of livelihood. The thought of what Sukhen must have suffered in his final moments, and the trauma his parents and siblings now carry, is deeply distressing. The very night this tragedy came to my attention, I ensured that our local leaders reached his family so they would not be left alone in their darkest hour.
Today, I visited their home in Tumrasole, sat with his grieving parents, and assured them that their quest for justice will not be abandoned. It is profoundly troubling that migrant workers from Bengal continue to face hostility and violence in BJP-ruled states. A citizen’s language, identity, or place of origin can never be grounds for persecution. The Constitution guarantees every Indian the right to move freely, to seek employment anywhere in the country, and to live with dignity and security. Any failure to protect these rights is a failure of constitutional duty.
The Maharashtra Government and its law enforcement agencies must act with urgency and firmness, apprehending every individual involved, ensuring a time-bound prosecution, and delivering exemplary punishment. Anything less would be an injustice not only to Sukhen’s memory, but to the very principles that bind our Republic together.
Despite a clear order from the SC and its own formal communication, the @ECISVEEP has failed to release and publish the list of LOGICAL DISCREPANCIES that it was mandated to publish by the 24th January- today in all Gram Panchayats and municipal wards.
The same software that allegedly assessed and analysed over 7 crore enumeration forms and miraculously detected “logical discrepancies” within one hour on 16 December immediately after the draft rolls were published now seems to have lost its logic, speed, credibility and confidence.
Three obvious questions therefore remains stark and unanswered:
1️⃣ WHAT EXACTLY IS THE ECI TRYING TO HIDE ?
2️⃣ If DISCREPANCIES could be identified in one hour, why does it take days to DISCLOSE them?
3️⃣ Is the @ECISVEEP looking for LOGIC or hiding the DISCREPANCIES?
Our campaign song for #AbarJitbeBangla is finally here, ready to ignite every corner of Bengal!
Tune in and feel the raw power of our land; the defiant pulse of Bengal beating strong, the unbreakable resolve of millions who refuse to be silenced, the thunderous roar of a people rising as one against every conspiracy and attack.
This song is the heartbeat of our resistance, the anthem of our pride, the voice of Ma-Mati-Manush declaring:
Jotoi Koro Hamla,
Abar Jitbe Bangla!
I strongly condemn the shameful and unacceptable treatment meted out to our Members of Parliament. Dragging elected representatives on the streets for exercising their democratic right to protest outside the Home Minister’s office is not law enforcement - it is arrogance in uniform. This is a democracy, not the BJP’s private property.
Democracy does not function on the convenience or comfort of those in power. When BJP leaders protest, they expect red carpets and special privileges. When opposition MPs raise their voices, they are dragged, detained, and humiliated. This double standard exposes the BJP’s idea of democracy - obedience, not dissent.
Let it be clear: respect is mutual. You respect us, we respect you. You drag us on the road, and we will drag you back to the constitutional idea of tolerance, dissent, and democratic morality. This is our India. We are citizens by right, not at the mercy of a chair, a badge, or a position of power. No government, no party, and no Home Minister gets to decide who deserves dignity in a democracy.

In Satgachia, Sebaashray 2 advances with a singular and unwavering purpose: ensuring timely and reliable healthcare access.
The programme brings together diagnostic services, medical consultation, and structured follow-up within the community itself, transforming healthcare from a distant destination into a reliable presence. Its emphasis rests on early identification of health concerns, uninterrupted access to essential medicines, and carefully coordinated referrals when advanced treatment becomes necessary.
By organising services at the local level, Sebaashray 2 reduces delay, uncertainty, and isolation, ensuring that no individual is left to navigate illness alone.
What is taking shape in Satgachia is more than service delivery. It is reassurance, conveyed through consistency, attentiveness, and care that endures beyond the moment of contact.
