Me: “Then why did you come?”
Best Friend: “Because he told me you wouldn’t be able to make him stop me.”
I called my husband.
Me: “Did you tell him he could come here whenever he wanted?”
Husband: “I don’t remember saying that.”
Best Friend looked at me and smiled.
Then my husband’s phone rang.
It was his best friend.
He had called him while standing right in front of me.
I watched my husband answer.
Best Friend: “She’s upset again.”
My husband immediately said,
Husband: “I’ll handle it.”
I hung up.
Because suddenly I realized the problem wasn’t that his best friend kept crossing boundaries.
The problem was that my husband had given him permission to keep crossing them.
