@ChicagoTVGuides@sigg20 I verified the game was at Comiskey Park. Sox won 2-1, game duration was 1:44. Attendance was 12,164. The TV guide had the telecast starting at 8:20. ??
Yesterday evening, France honoured Resistance member Missak Manouchien, his wife Mélinée and the comrades who died at his side, in a deeply moving ceremony at the Panthéon in Paris. Husband and wife now lie side-by-side for eternity. Here is the last letter he wrote to Mélinée.
21 February 1944, Fresnes
My dear Mélinée, my beloved orphan.
In a few hours I will have departed from this world. We are to be shot at 3 pm this afternoon. This feels like an incident in my life and I can't come to terms with it, but I nevertheless know that I won't ever see you again.
What can I write to you? All is turmoil and clear at the same time. I joined the Liberation army as a volunteer soldier and I am to die at a time when victory is close at hand. May those who live after us be happy and taste the sweetness of freedom and peace that will follow. I'm sure that the French people and all those who fight for freedom will honour us with dignity. With death so close, I state that I harbour no hate towards the German people or against anyone else, each will receive what they deserve either as a reward or punishment. The German people and all the other peoples will live in peace and fraternity after this war that will soon come to an end. Happiness to one and all!
My deep regret is that I never made you happy, I would have liked to have had a child with you as you always wanted. I therefore beseech you to marry after the war and to have a child to honour me and fulfil my last request, marry someone who can make you happy.
All that I own I leave to you, your sister and my nephews. After the war you can claim your widow's war pension because I die as a regular soldier of the French Liberation army.
With my the help of friends who would like to honour me, publish my poems and writings that are worthy of being read. If you can, let my relatives in Armenia know what has happened to me. I am going to die soon alongside 23 comrades with the courage and serenity of a man who has a clean conscience, as I have not personally hurt anyone, and if I have, I did it without hate.
It is sunny today. As I look at the sun and the beauty of nature that I have loved so much, I bid farewell to life and all of you, my beloved wife and my dear friends. I forgive those who have wanted to hurt me, except those who betrayed us to save their own skin. I embrace you with all my strength, as well as your sister and all of the friends who remember me. I keep you all close to my heart.
Adieu. Your friend, your comrade, your husband.
Manouchian Michel
P.-S. I have fifteen thousand francs in a suitcase at rue de Plaisance. If you get it, pay off my debts and give the rest to Armène. M.M.
@NeilSpyBarnett@SiriusXMFC@C_Stillitano@RaeComm I’ve been listening to you on the show for at least 12 years. Going to miss your your insight, humor and historic knowledge of the game whichwas outstanding. I loved the fact you were actually attending so many matches in person and sharing match day experiences. Will miss you
@flagstafffilms In 1932 there were new bleachers built to some extent. Bleachers completed in 1937-38. Based on uniforms (Cubs spelled out on chest) had to 1936 or older.
@MLBcathedrals My guess it is ‘57 or ‘58- the key is Milwaukee is on the NL side, and AL still has St. Louis and Philadelphia who moved to Baltimore and KC.
@ctaylor43@PBSgays@cta The 4000-series cars ran system-wide from the lat 1910s and 1920s through early 1973; I just barely remember riding them on the Evanston (now Purple) Line as a kid.
This one is on the Loop.
One of my favourite MLB facts involves Bob Feller.

I think our fans could show a bit of class tomorrow and show our support for Cristiano and his partner after losing their son
A minutes applause on the 7th minute reds? Show other fans what true compassion is
Rivalries mean nothing at times like this
