Well done to Y10 student Damian McNally on his recent success in Athletics.
Combined Events - 4th place (qualifying for Lincolnshire at regionals).
Intercounty Champs - Shotput (11.27m) & Hammer throw (38.28m) - 3rd place.
Damian is now ranked 31st in the country for Hammer!
Our Y9 T1 rugby team made the short journey to Spalding RFC to compete against a number of schools across the county in touch rugby. For some this was their first taste of representing the school in competitive sport. They represented BGS fantastically throughout the event 🏉🟡⚫️
No there wasn’t!
4-3 FT. Goals: Shaw x2, Stec and Bedford!
MOTM: O Franks, an outstanding performance, largely responsible for keeping us within a goal for much of the first half.
A fantastic first year of school football. South Lincs league champions and County Cup Finalists!
This time, it was Spalding’s turn to equalise. 2-2
A very good spell saw us go 4-2 ahead before a late goal for Spalding made for a very uncomfortable finish to the game.
Was there more heartbreak on the cards?
A nervous start saw our boys fall a goal behind.
However, we eventually grew into the game and got back onto level terms. We went into the break at 1-1.
The second half started positively and saw us take a 2-1 lead…
A truly fantastic first cup run for our Y7s and congratulations to Skegness Grammar on their success.
Onto this week, we faced Spalding Grammar in the South Lincs Superzone League Finals.
Thank you to @bostonunited for use of their 3G pitch.
The shootout started well for both teams with each scoring their first 5 penalties.
Onto sudden death, where again both teams scored.
Sadly there was absolute heartbreak as BGS became the first team to miss.
Skegness scored their next pen and went on to lift the trophy.
Sadly, on the stroke of half time, a well taken free kick allowed our opponents to equalise.
A tense second half produced very few chances on a very blustery day.
Full time 1-1
Penalties followed…
The last week has seen our Y7 team bring their season to a close with two big games.
Last week, we were in County Cup Final action at the home of @SleafordTownFC against Skegness Grammar.
We had a fantastic start with Stec slotting home after 20 seconds.
Our Y11 GCSE cohort staying behind for an optional revision session this afternoon to work through @The_EverLearner live session. 14/17 students attended the session, while enjoying some pizza! 🍕 getting ready for the paper 1 exam.
In the A category, the team of 4 were victorious of the whole tournament, James B, Cookey, Callum and Ruben L.
Ruben and Callum went the whole day without losing a single game, James and Cookey lost one game and drew one, winning the rest of their games.
Well done lads!
This afternoon, we took 15 students to Boston Tennis Club for our first ever Pickleball tournament after introducing it onto the curriculum last year. The 15 lads were excellent, with over 160 games of pickleball played in the afternoon !
Goalscorers in the semi-final:
Shaw x2
Wright
Anisjko
Bond
Stone
We hope for more of the same next week!
MOTM: O. Stec for his outstanding work rate, leading the line in attack but doing his fair share of defending too.
And that’s exactly what they did! A convincing 6-2 victory saw the boys give themselves an opportunity to cap off an outstanding first year at BGS. Next week, we will take on Skegness Grammar in the final due to be held at Eslaforde Park, home of Sleaford Town Football Club.
Our Y7 footballers returned to action this week in semi-final action of the County Cup. This week they faced a trip to William Farr School hoping to book a place in next week’s final…
