I’ve worked in a school that was ‘stuck’ in ‘inadequate’. I saw brilliant classroom teachers convinced they weren’t good enough, constantly brought down in thinking they weren’t up to scratch. Some will quit, some will be forced out, others will have to take time off. And there was literally nothing wrong with them as professionals. The damage of these grades goes on for years, the inspectors walk away. Surely it’s time, after all these years, to end the grades.
