Why should kids play team sports?
Not for trophies or scholarships.
But for the lessons that last a lifetime:
1. Resilience
2. Teamwork
3. Leadership
4. Confidence
5. Discipline
And much more...
Team sports are one of the best training grounds for life.
While playing Striker Ball, these 5th graders practiced using a short implement to strike a ball with CONTROL. Look how focused they are! ๐#striking
Grades K-2 played โSpaghetti and Meatballsโ to practice striking with control while using an implement. Each student had to keep their spaghetti (noodles) and meatballs (balloons) from falling off their plate (poly spot). ๐#striking
We are all โSETโ to learn about striking! This week, students are using the set, forearm bump, and spike to strike with their hands ๐๐ผ. Next week, we will use long and short implements.

Fitness pre-assessments are underway. Students are using the data to set SMART goals and will make comparisons in the spring to track their growth. ๐ช๐ผ๐โค๏ธ #fitness@TheBarnwellBeat@FCS_HealthPE
K-2 kiddos progressed through 4 stations: balance and yoga for flexibility; the rock wall for muscular strength; locomotor movements for cardiovascular endurance; and a combo of exercises on the Lu to work all fitness components. @TheBarnwellBeat#fitnesscomponents@FCS_HealthPE
PE teachers have wish lists, too! Consider helping me make this upcoming school year the best yet! My Bears and I would be incredibly grateful. Check out my list on Amazon https://t.co/sxZI8dmIcs #Amazon
Jumping rope is a tough skill that students develop over time, at their own pace. Our K-2 Bears use noodles, hula hoops and ropes to work on their timing. The progress is incredible to witness! @TheBarnwellBeat
Our Bears are learning about how the heart works, how to keep our hearts healthy, the signs of a stroke/heart attack, & how to respond in an emergency. Today, a parent who is with the @American_Heart came in to teach 3rd & 5th about hands-only CPR. โค๏ธ๐ฉบ #FAST@TheBarnwellBeat
