OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING:
According to scanner audio, the City of Brookfield Police responded for a vehicle accident caused by a possibly intoxicated driver. Prior to police arrival, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
When officers arrived and began searching for the suspect, the suspect reportedly ambushed an officer and shot at him numerous times, but thankfully missed every shot.
Officer(s) returned fire, striking the suspect in the stomach and the eyeball. The suspect was rushed to the hospital where he will likely face attempted murder charges, assuming he survives his life threatening injuries.
Additionally, according to both scanner audio and very early reports, it is believed the suspect involved in this incident is the same suspect conducting the drive by shootings recently.
The incident is under investigation. The City of Milwaukee Police Department and Wisconsin Department of Justice are leading the investigation.
Any further information will come directly from the City of Brookfield Police Department. All of this information was obtained via scanner audio.

We greatly appreciate the work that went into expanding this coverage, which is both a matter of fairness and public safety. Next step will be passage in the State Senate and then onward to the Governor’s desk for his signature.
