The two things counting against Young are that he did it against a defense that was significantly worse against the pass last year, and 107 yards and a touchdown of Young's production came when his team was down by more than 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Bryce had a really nice game, and if our data was not opponent adjusted, he almost certainly would have finished above Maye

After finishing last among qualified QBs in PFN's QB Impact score last season, Cam Ward posted a 64.3 in Week 1 of the 2026 season.

Ward finished Week 1 with a 59.4% completion rate, -0.31 EPA/play, a 41.7% success rate and a -5.8 CPOE.

It took Ward until Week 7 to post a score above 70 last season, and nine of his 16 saw him finish with a score in the 60s.

Trevor Lawrence posted a provisional 95.6 PFN QB Impact score for Week 1. That is his first single-game score above 90.

He finished Week 1 with a 0.72 EPA/play, a CPOE of 22.3, and a 68% success rate.

The numbers are very likely reflective of the opponent, but it was a statement performance against a bad team to start the year.

D'Andre Swift finished last season ranked 10th in the PFN RB Impact metric. His 15.4 Rush EPA was third in the NFL among qualified rushers

His EPA in Week 1 of the 2026 season is nearly half that at 6.0. He has a 0.29 EPA/play on the day with a 48% success rate.

The intriguing thing is that Kyle Monangai was at 0.25 EPA/play. Either this is a fun 1-2 punch with a really good offensive line, or it could be that Panthers' run defense is woeful (21st in PFN Defensive Impact against the run last year)

The Buccaneers gave a quarterback who has ranked inside the top 10 twice in his career a $55 million a year contract extension with no realistic out until 2029.
