@tylerangert And this is why the arts and humanities are important. Being shown and told over and over to improve yourself or someone else will take your spot does ~ surprise! ~ make you better.
@TriciaDearborn An excellent observation on what AI cannot do - actual solve problems. It can't think. It can (badly) guess at the what's statistically most logical.
In other words, it'll tell you to take the boring option.
@nypost Who is more likely to molest children? The President of the United States of America or gay parents?

@JoyceCarolOates Oates, as usual, is right. The publishing business is data-driven at this point, like all other industries. If "women-focused" books are what sells, that's what gets published.
@moonymarss Nah, man. Traditional publishing is one of the most reactive business models - consumers and retail buyers wanted this. The publishers actually hate making these, because the profit margin is so slim.
@NairYasmin An agent's main role outside of author care is literal gatekeeping for the publishers. They control the slush pile. Agents are not equipped to deal with this (many agents aren't even full-time!), and publishing workers are just tired and underpaid.
It’s not about politics. It’s morality. Movies, superheroes, comics as silly as it may sound, taught me a lot about empathy, understanding stories of marginalized people, & always stand up for them with a voice of reason. If I have a platform & I can use it responsibly, so be it
