In 2024 as affordability and housing challenges continued to dominate the headlines, Vibrant Communities Calgary was hard at work amplifying lived experiences, tackling systemic barriers, and championing solutions, to work towards making our city a place where there is enough for all.
This year, we:
🏠 Released No Place to Go, a study on social disorder on public transit, calling for year-round daytime supports for those without shelter.
📊 Advocated for affordable housing and calculated Calgary’s new living wage: $24.45/hour.
🎨 Launched Kaleidoscope Spaces and Zine Workshops to elevate community voices in reimagining an inclusive city.
🎧 Produced new episodes of Let’s Talk Poverty, exploring different approaches to addressing systemic issues.
📢 Appeared in over 550 media stories, driving conversations on poverty and affordability.
And that’s just the beginning...Read the full blog to see how we’re building a Calgary where everyone has enough, and what’s next as we celebrate 20 years of driving social change.
