@AsylumMatters The British public is compassionate — no matter how hard some try to demonise the vulnerable.
Every signature is a message to Parliament:
Humanity still matters.

High irregular migration is a symptom of a failing border policy. The more they choke regular migration to higher it drives irregular migration. If people need to be here to unite with family, they will come by whatever means necessary. We need more safe routes not fewer!
The govt has promised to end the use of hotels for asylum seekers, but has no plans to LET THEM WORK
So they can support themselves & start to become part of our communities & rebuild their lives without this stupid forced dependence
Hotels have become a lightning rod for hate.

We don't count people's worth in numbers. It's hard to watch politicians celebrate falling migration just days after they labelled people who've built lives in this country "strangers".
So today, and always, we want to be very clear:
Newcomers are welcome and they always will be.
Our inhumane asylum system is costing people their lives. Last year it was deadlier than ever.
At the very least, every person who dies while attempting to claim asylum here should be counted, remembered and mourned.
Last night, I spoke about why this needs to be law.
How does @BBCNewsnight (and other Beeb shows) take itself seriously when they allow Carla Sands on to spout demonstrably-false and biased bullshit like this?
We wanted to send @Keir_Starmer a message of love this Valentine's Day...
So we brought him a card he couldn't ignore✉️
Instead of cruelty, 80% of us want a fair, kind & well managed asylum system.

One of the most overlooked aspects about asylum seekers is that small boats are not everything.
Just under 30,000 people entered by boat in the last year, of 90,000 applicants.
So about 31% on boats, 20% have a visa, & the rest enter through routes we totally ignore. #r4today
@drphiliplee1 As a Canadian it's very confusing watching Couche-Tard (Circle K's parent company) trying to buy 7-Eleven, normally Canadian companies get bought up
Until the Government takes action, asylum seekers remain in danger. Please share with your family and friends to demand safety and protection for all refugees. https://t.co/RJ1Jxyaj9n via @38degrees
Today we bring together over 240 organisations - together we stand in solidarity with those affected by the recent acts of violence, many of whom have already fled unimaginable horrors to try to find safety.
This must be a turning point.
