Today I visited the Museum of Communism in Prague.

While the museum in Budapest focuses largely on events in Hungary during the Communist era, Prague’s Museum is organized by themes and topics.

What struck me most was how closely its story matched my own experience growing up under Mao. The reason is simple: Communist regimes follow the same playbook.

I recognized so much of what I lived through—not only in the history of Communist China, but in ideas and trends I see emerging in contemporary America.
