Catch my performance for #autisticprideday.
I'll be talking about and playing music by queer + trans musicians, as well as music by Courtney Love who I have seen variably described online as "diagnosed with mild autism" or "described as having autistic traits by a psychiatist".
At my doctor's office the tv is currently showing a reality tv clip where a dental surgeon is removing abscessed teeth from sedated children.
You know, just the usual calming body horror setting the mood before you ask for a prescription refill.
Neighbor:”You talk about disability an awful lot. Don’t you ever feel like you want to move beyond disability?”
I don’t want to move beyond disability.
If disabled people don’t talk about disability, ableism and inaccessibility no one will.
@CraveCanada Here's a thing you could do for pride month: stop your parent company from lobbying for higher telecom prices during the pandemic. The digital divide hurts queer people. You did that. So no, you are not welcome to celebrate with us.
Dear Corporations,
Thank you for your Pride tweets, packaging and merch.
Now how are you applying pressure to oppose hateful anti trans bills in state legislatures across the country?
Happy #AutisticPrideDay! Celebrate the day and watch our AutismBC Goes to a Mini-Concert with @PIANOPUNK! You can expect an array of unconventional piano-based covers and messages of empowerment and pride in their performance:

I liked the first season of Feel Good, but I absolutely fucking LOVED the second season. Such a good depiction of the aftermath of abuse. Abusers usually aren't strangers and that those relationships can be really complicated. @TheMaeMartin
@TarunTspoon @FACTORCanada @danabeeler @IlaBarkerMusic@JadeHarperWPG@jaydevonish@MisterMemetic@kyria138@masani55 Thanks! Even though I will acknowledge that some of the larger pieces (significant restructuring and reforming of the granting system to include checking for bias in jurors) are out of your hands, I do appreciate you taking my feedback.
So, I was just at an information session by @FACTORCanada for LGBTQ2IA+ people and I got frustrated and left. Frankly, I am so disappointed that this was "education" not consultation.
And although I mentioned Music BC because I used to work there and I live in BC, this could really apply to any nonprofit music organization in Canada.
Day 5 of tweeting about music grants in Canada and I'm going to say the most controversial thing yet: NO MORE MUSIC INDUSTRY WORKERS ON THE BOARDS OF ORGS WHO HAND OUT GRANTS. Looking at you, @musicbc
So it may sound judgemental that I want to remove folks who work in the music industry from music NP boards, who probably do good work, but it's really not meant to be. Structural change isn't personal. It's necessary and it should be more important than individual egos.
