Some things are just kismet, like the powerful, once-in-a-lifetime friendship that Calvin and Claire developed while attending toddler class at the Utah School for the Blind. Inspired by their connection, they would like to invite their friends from the Parent Infant Program to a
We visited the local pet store for our Parent Infant Program visit so we could see how little Eden uses her vision in new situations. She liked watching the fish swimming in the tank, but she was not too interested in the snake who was in the next tank down. Who could blame her?
The children in the Salt Lake Parent Infant Program toddler class have been learning about some of the joys of summer. Little Maya who is just 24 months old enjoyed learning and exploring some fun summertime activities. She especially loved fishing with her friends.
Here’s an easy and creative idea that was shared by Bess Dennison, a teacher here at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. She suggests using a laundry basket, stadium seating, and pool noodles cut to fit for adaptive seating with a contained play area for your little one.
We all love to learn and laugh with our friends and these Summer Park Days events are the perfect place to share all those giggles and wiggles. We hope to see you there!!
Our Salt Lake area toddler class teachers are so excited to celebrate summer. Be sure to mark your calendars to join us for some warm summer sunshine and playful splashing in the cool water.

Being able to move around independently on this Bumper Buddy brought a lot of smiles to this little one who is in the Parent Infant Program for the Blind and Visually Impaired. I can almost hear his joyful squeals, can't you? Oh, what fun!

Thinking outside the box is part of our jobs as Early Intervention Vision Specialists! Sharing these ideas with families helps them to try new things and see their child progress. –Denise Johnson, M.Ed., TVI USDB Parent Infant Program for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Sometimes it's not a toy that you buy in a store that really gets little ones to engage! When his vision specialist put some mylar over him while laying on the floor, mom was shocked to see his reaction! He kicked and moved his arms and smiled so big! He loved to hear the sounds.
There is nothing this little one can't do! She has been working on taking steps, walking and using words with her family. Her parents' high expectations for her are taking her new places everyday and the sky's the limit! We are so proud of you Mabel! -Emily Kotowski,M.Ed.,TVI
I have so much love for the children and parents in PIP! Our kids are determined, capable, and amazing. Our parents form the most incredible community. I am so honored to spend time with them and count myself lucky to look forward to every work day. -Emily

This Mom wasn't able to get anything done because her baby always wanted to be held. One of the Early Intervention staff made a customized sling to help her carry her baby while having her hands free to work...Changed everything.

Little Leighlend is doing so great with his new glasses! We had fun playing with his owl toy that plays music and lights up! It definitely keeps his attention during tummy time! What a fun toy for our growing PIP-BVI kiddos! -Margaret Caulford, M.Ed., TVI USDB PIP BVI
