“Teach each day like it’s your child in the front row.”
Our job as teachers is to create an environment where our kids feel empowered.
You might teach 25 or 30 years but you have these kids for 1. Make it count ❤️💯
That means we’ve understood how to teach dyslexic kids to read for almost a century.
So why in the hell are we still not doing it?
Here’s the part that should really make you angry: every child learns to read the way a dyslexic child does. They just need more repetition, more structure, more explicit instruction. What helps dyslexic kids helps ALL kids.
We’ve spent decades torturing dyslexic kids with methods we knew didn’t work — and stunting every other kid’s reading in the process.
Parents, it’s past time to get involved. Stop trusting the system to fix itself. Stop accepting the games.
Back to the Science of Reading. No more excuses.

New school year starts today. Nerves, excitement, and the same focus - Tier I instruction.
Big thanks to @letsquitteachin for the video that helped launch our focus for the year. Nothing “new”, just deeper and stronger into our Tier I Focus. Looking forward to a great year!

📝 Introducing the Feedback Helper Tool for Educators
If there’s one practice that has a powerful impact on learning, it’s feedback. Research consistently shows that meaningful feedback is one of the most influential things we can provide in the classroom.
Yet, in the busyness of teaching, it’s easy for feedback to become quick comments like “Good job” or “Needs more detail.”While well-intended, those comments rarely help learners understand how to improve.
Effective feedback does something different. It helps learners answer three critical questions:
➡️ Where am I going?
➡️ How am I doing?
➡️ What should I do next?
When feedback clearly identifies strengths, highlights an area for improvement, and offers actionable next steps, learners are far more likely to grow. 🌱
That’s exactly why I created the Feedback Helper tool.
This tool helps educators quickly generate meaningful, research-aligned feedback ideas for any grade level or subject. Teachers can describe the learning task—or even upload a learner work sample—and the tool will generate feedback options that include:
✔️ Strength-based comments
✔️ Improvement suggestions
✔️ Reflective questions
✔️ Next steps for learning
✔️ Instructional moves teachers can try next
Instead of staring at a stack of assignments wondering what to write, the Feedback Helper gives you clear, actionable feedback ideas you can immediately use or adapt.
Because feedback shouldn’t just tell learners what happened—it should help them grow from it. 🚀

🍎 New Tool for Teachers: Formative Assessment Generator
How often have you finished a lesson and wondered… Did learners really understand that? 🤔
Checking for understanding during instruction is one of the most powerful things a teacher can do. But coming up with fresh formative assessment ideas every day can be tough—especially when time is limited and lesson planning is already full.
That’s why I created a new tool called the Formative Assessment Generator ✨
This tool helps teachers quickly generate simple, practical formative assessment ideas for any grade level or subject. All you have to do is enter a few details like grade level, subject, and learning goal, and the tool will generate strategies you can use immediately in your classroom.
You might get ideas such as:
✏️ Quick writing prompts
💬 Discussion strategies
🎯 Checks for understanding
🧠 Reflection activities
👥 Collaborative thinking tasks
🎨 Visual demonstrations of learning
Each idea is designed to reveal learner thinking, not just whether an answer is right or wrong. The goal is to help teachers gather evidence of understanding while instruction is still happening so teaching can adjust in real time.
The strategies generated by the tool are:
✔️ Quick to implement
✔️ Aligned with learning goals
✔️ Flexible for any subject
✔️ Designed to surface misconceptions
Sometimes the most powerful instructional move is simply asking the right question at the right time. This tool helps make that easier.
If you’re looking for new ways to check understanding, spark discussion, and support deeper learning in your classroom, give the Formative Assessment Generator a try! 🚀

Tool 11 helps you answer THAT question
🤔 “When Will I Ever Use This?”: Make Learning Matter
We’ve all heard it…
“When am I ever going to use this?” 😬
And if we’re honest—sometimes it’s a fair question.
The “When Will I Ever Use This?” tool helps you answer it before it’s asked. 🎯
This tool helps you:
✅ Connect learning to real-world relevance
✅ Show learners why the content matters
✅ Build purpose and meaning into lessons
✅ Increase engagement through authentic application
Because relevance isn’t a bonus…
It’s a driver of learning. 💡
When learners see the “why”:
👉 Motivation increases
👉 Effort improves
👉 Learning sticks
No more forced explanations or last-minute connections.
Let’s design learning that feels meaningful from the start. 🚀

Tool #27
🤝 Peer Single-Point Success Criteria Generator: Feedback That Learners Can Use
Peer feedback can be powerful… or completely off track. 😬
Without clarity, it turns into “looks good” and “nice job.”
The Peer Single-Point Success Criteria Generator gives learners a clear target—and a structure for meaningful feedback. 🎯
This tool helps you:
✅ Define a single, clear standard of proficiency
✅ Guide learners to give specific, actionable feedback
✅ Focus feedback on improvement and extension
✅ Build a culture of purposeful peer review
Because feedback shouldn’t be vague…
It should move learning forward. 💡
When peer feedback is done well:
👉 Learners think more deeply about quality
👉 Feedback becomes useful and specific
👉 Growth happens faster
No more empty comments. No more guessing.
Let’s design peer feedback that actually improves learning. 🚀
