3 months ago I considered quitting streaming full-time after doing it for the last 7 years.
It was consistently getting worse and worse month by month for 3 years straight, and it had gotten to a point where I realized that as I’m getting older, and especially now that I’m a husband (and someday a father) that I shouldn’t be wasting my time doing things that don’t give me a return on my time investment.
And so, on a random day in late March, I had a sit-down conversation with my wife and told her that I’d direct all my efforts into really trying to make it on YouTube instead and that since my streams were already doing badly, cutting my hours by two thirds and dedicating that to recording videos instead would be a better use of my time.
She tried convincing me that the only thing missing from my streams was the spark of motivation and hunger that I once had and that I should just try harder, but none of her input swayed me because in my mind my path was already decided…
A few days later Jynxzi started playing League of Legends and asked me if I wanted to be his coach.
Since then, life has felt like a blur.
For the first time in forever I feel happy, motivated, and content simultaneously.
I wasn’t even planning on making a post about this, but after taking a few days off work to go on a true vacation with my wife and then coming back home and realizing that I haven’t felt stressed out at all by the lack of streams recently it really set in for me how different things really are nowadays, and for that I wanted to take a second to thank all of you for making that, and all of this, possible.
The scariest part of it all wasn’t hearing people tell me on a daily basis that I had fallen from a point that I’d never get back to;
It was believing it.
And so to my wife Laura, to Jynxzi, to my family, to my friends, to those who have always stuck around as well as those of you who are starting to stick around;
Thanks for helping me believe in myself again.
It means more than you know.
I can’t wait to continue to give you all the best version of myself, and my content, that I possibly can.
Thanks for your critique, Janet. We actually tried a couple of episodes where House (Hugh Laurie) (please put the brackets in the right place) gets it right first time, but they were only 6 minutes long. NBC weren’t happy. Then we tried some where House never gets it right and the patient dies. The audience wasn’t happy.
One could apply your trenchant analysis to other art forms: JS Bach wrote 30 Goldberg variations on the same chord structure; Frida Kahlo painted 50 portraits of herself; Henry Moore, what??
The point is, or was, variations on a theme; if all you see is hospital, medical blah blah, then it wasn’t meant for you.
Nonetheless, I look forward to your first novel!
你好 my ass is in china rn
I scheduled this post to let you know the journey has begun. We are probably lost already and struggling to use any of the mandarin we learned
The first video will be out Friday please watch! And consider(!) checking out the merch we made for tip2tip
When Walter White repeatedly said that he was cooking meth ‘for his family’ did you think that the director was trying to convince you that he was actually doing it for his family, or did you understand the character well enough to know that the director was trying to showcase the depth of his self-deception?
Marty Supreme is an egotistical, self-aggrandising Jewish antihero in the 50s who dreams about bringing himself - and his recently annihilated people - glory through sport. When he says ‘we built that’, do you think Josh Safdie is trying to say to the audience that the Jews built the pyramids, or can you understand that he is trying to showcase the self-mythologising nature of Marty’s character?
I cannot believe people are this media illiterate that this has to be spelled out to them step by step as if they are children.
@JDVance Sorry but you were the only baby ever worth choosing crack over. Every time your mom neglected you was justified. Sorry. Amy Adams sucked in that movie too, sorry. Nothing you touch ever goes right. You should try some of Elon’s medicine sometime. Sorry.
One of my The Game Awards rituals is to watch back the previous show.
This year, when I got to the Okami moment, I noticed my Dad was just over my shoulder in the audience, smiling.
As you may know, my dad passed away a few months ago. Tonight’s show is dedicated to him.
Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko. Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.
So curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciates— scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend’s or relative’s accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history. In fact he seems totally uneducated , uncultured. The poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the “most wealthy person in the world.”
