@mr_dsantos@starleecoleman @colemanhd89 @pastors4txkids Mr. Santos, much respect for both your vocation and your success. But speaking in absolutes (sole purpose of billionaires), advocating unrealistic solutions (abolishing charter schools), calling people liars...does little to advance a real fix
@dollarsanddata Both informative and straightforward. If someone is planning to move into a more expensive house in 4-5 years, is it best to pay some extra principal on the current mortgage every month instead of going the cash or bonds route?
@lisadawnfisher@starleecoleman @mishshel I bring up UT Elementary bc it’s a good counterexample to the (IMO) overly broad characterization in the original post. It’s also a “demonstration school” - research at UT is applied in a school setting, which sounds a lot like a “pocket of innovation” to borrow Dr Smith’s phrase
@lisadawnfisher@starleecoleman @mishshel Agree with Mrs Coleman. It doesn’t have to be either/or, zero-sum. Charters are here to stay, so let’s talk about reform and accountability. There are A LOT of underperforming charters out there, so perhaps making it harder to get and easier to revoke a charter is a good start?
@mishshel Thank you, I agree with both of those points. I suppose your goal as an advocate for millions is different than mine as an advocate for one. I’m not sure, but it feels like you’re portraying this as zero-sum, and I don’t agree with that. Willing to be corrected on that, though
@mishshel What are the most positive aspects of charters worth preserving? My child attends UT Elementary and, best I can tell, only #3 maybe applies. He’d otherwise attend a school in Del Valle ISD that has been rated D or F as long as he’s been alive.
@MichaelEDyson Sincerest thanks for reminding me of Jay’s genius. Been going back and listening to a lot of stuff I haven’t heard in awhile. “Never Let Me Down” with Kanye, the chorus, and J. Ivy is just brilliant on every level. Gettin me through a tough day. Take care, sir
@stockifi_Invest @dmuthuk@jillonmoney knows buy/rent is more complicated than this tweet (I think) assumes. @haroldpollack's Index Card is better than this list. Self-regulation along with LT mindset, stock market basics prob unnecessary, insurance is a must-know, compound interest is covered by the rest
