WOW. Can’t believe I’m about to say this but the Lib Dem’s and Labour in Portsmouths council meeting tonight voted AGAINST asking the government to stop anymore boat arrivals on the shores of our area and voted AGAINST condemning violence.

None of the news reporters could believe what just happened. I don’t understand what just happened

But the fact of the matter is Lib Dem’s and Labour in Portsmouth do not support a strong stance against more boats arriving here. No matter what spin they give you

Rachel was twelve when the abuse started. She says two police officers put her in the back of a police van on Cowley Road. Then, in uniform, in the back of that police van, one of the officers sexually assaulted her.

Think about what that tells you about this scandal.

These girls were being raped by gangs of men while the institutions supposedly there to protect them were not just looking the other way, some were joining in. In town after town, city after city, police men were involved in gang raping children.

Oxford eventually convicted 21 men. There was not a police officer amongst any of them.

Survivors in Oxford believe hundreds of perpetrators remain free. Across the country, the numbers are at least in the tens of thousands. Fathers, cousins, uncles and brothers. All walked away free. Protected because of who they were and protected because of who else benefited from what took place.

Britain can barely tell you how many men it convicted. No one should be surprised that it cannot tell you how many men raped the children. Or how many of the child rapists were police men.

The fat in a blocked artery is three quarters unsaturated, and a cardiologist has known that since 1994.

The pipe story goes like this: you eat butter, the butter floats about in the blood, the butter sticks to the wall like grease in a drain, one day the drain is shut. It is the tidiest piece of medicine ever drawn on a napkin, and every part of it is wrong.

Dietary fat does not float about. It is packaged in the gut, shipped to your fat stores and muscle, and is gone from the blood within hours. Plaque does not sit in the pipe like sludge; it grows inside the wall, underneath the lining, where nothing you swallowed can reach it without an invitation. And the invitation is damage: a cholesterol particle gets through the lining, oxidises, and the immune system builds a scab over it. A plaque is a scab on the inside of a pipe, not a lump of dripping in the bend.

In 1994 The Lancet did the obvious thing and cut the plaques open to see what the fat inside them actually was. 26% saturated. 74% unsaturated, and more than 40% of it polyunsaturated, the fat that oxidises, the fat that comes out of a seed, the fat the butter was replaced with.

So the drain was never blocked with butter. It was scabbed over a wound, and the wound was full of the stuff the leaflets told two generations to cook with instead.

The pipe was a metaphor. The seed oil was a diet.
