Can we circle back on this? One of the most influential review papers used for decades to support the safety of glyphosate was officially retracted in December 2025. The retraction notice stated that the conclusions about whether glyphosate causes cancer were “solely based on unpublished studies from Monsanto,” and Monsanto employees helped write the paper without proper disclosure.

Seven months later, there have been no meaningful regulatory changes. Meanwhile, pesticide manufacturers now have legal immunity in the United States.

The regulatory agencies are captured by corporate interests so I don’t think meaningful changes to our food system will come from the top down.

They’ll come from millions of individual food sourcing decisions made by farmers and consumers every day. Every purchase is a vote.

When you can, vote for the food system you want by supporting farmers and co-ops who are working to reduce or eliminate its use.

Reading about the history of the birth control pill. How many people are aware of the Senate hearings where the pharmaceutical companies were found to have lied about the adverse effects on women? That the pill was experimented on impoverished women in Puerto Rico without informed consent? That Pharma hired public relation firms to destroy the dissenting doctors and journalists? That many doctors testified against the use of the pill? How there are dramatic increases in autoimmune disease, depression, metabolic illness, and cancer in women who took the pill? The pill was only supposed to be used for a short period of time between children?
Most doctors are unaware of this history and thus women are not provided informed consent. Its accepted as safe… but at what cost?
